London restaurant 5pm recommendations

We are going to be in Soho next week and haven’t been up to London in years. Can anyone recommend a lovely restaurant for me and DH? We are hoping to have a potter and eat around 5. I know the England match is on but don’t mind missing that just this once.

We like all sorts, Chinese, Thai or anything really!

If you like Japanese, Eat Tokyo in Covent Garden is a great budget option.

Or go to Chinatown. It's so pretty. Have a wander and see which one takes your fancy. I used to have favourites but they do change hands, so can't recommend one especially.

Ive not been in a few years but Barrafina (tapas) could work as it opens at 5pm. There are no reservations but you should be ok at that time, plus England playing

Or Bao?

Chinatown - Old Town 97 is a great Chinese restaurant with good food and pleasant staff. Malaysian restaurant called Kawan by Uncle Roger - fantastic food, but very much on the hot and spicy side so be warned!

Indian - Dishoom and Mowgli are excellent chains, both have branches in or near Soho

Hoppers Soho on Frith Street does great Sri Lankan food if you fancy something different

Tell us your budget and whether you want fancy or casual, and we can give you more detailed suggestions

Ooh these all sound great. DH said Chinatown. Budget is flexible really. Ideally no more than £100 if poss though. We don’t drink and will only have main and maybe I’ll have a pudding

Thanks for replying, I feel strangely excited to be heading back into London.

It's an exciting place! And nothing better than having a nice dinner in town. Enjoy!

Thank you!!! DH and I were trying to remember the name of the brilliant Sri Lankan place we'd been to around there. It was Hoppers on Frith Street.
