Getting money back after using a scam website

I bought a product off a website that seemed like it was genuine. The website advertised their positive customer reviews (but it seems they may have fabricated that section).I bought it yesterday and went back on the website today and it was when I was searching the company name on Google to get to website, I noticed only very bad reviews and people advising not to use them.

I paid using my Amex credit card and I have always heard you can get your money back if you've used a credit card to pay but I've never exercised that right. Will I have to wait two weeks to prove the website is fake and my item hasn't yet been sent or can I report my suspicion immediately and try to get my money back?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

PS. So others don't fall for it, the website is Love To Be Natural.

Assuming the online retailer won’t allow you to cancel your order at this point, You need to wait until the estimated delivery date has passed, then follow the online process from the retailer itself regarding getting the item (assuming you don’t receive it). Then keep all correspondence / screenshots of you attempting to resolve the issue as Amex will want copies of those. The actual process of raising a dispute with Amex is quite easy - you just click on the charge within the app/web page and there will be a box to tick ‘dispute charge’. Then follow the prompts. Raising a dispute will remove the requirement to pay for it on your next statement due date but only if you can show a) the item has not arrived /is not as expected and b) you’ve given the retailer the opportunity to resolve the issue. Amex generally won’t allow you to dispute a charge until those things have happened. If you are worried, call Amex themselves tomorrow- the UK office is very helpful about these sorts of issues.

Hope you get sorted!

Just call your credit company and ask them what you need to do.

This.

Phone Amex now, so that they have a note of this on your file.
