What staples to buy for someone coming back from holiday?

I am picking a friend up from the airport and thinking I will buy some staples for her so that she doesn’t have to go to a shop as soon as she gets home.

what sort of thing would you buy? Thinking bread, rolls, milk, butter, eggs, bacon … any other ideas?!

Thanks

I’d think milk and bread only would be fine! Assuming they haven’t been away months they’ve probably already got butter in their fridge?

I would have done a pre-departure Ocado to come as we get home, so perhaps check first

Just ask if she needs anything picking up? I don’t drink milk and rarely used bread so nice sentiment but would totally wasted on me!

I would have done an online shop but she is crap at it so I know she won’t have done. I think I will just go for bread and milk and maybe cheese as otherwise it takes too much thinking about and becomes a big shop!

I do it for my parents. Usually just bread, milk, eggs, bacon and cold meat. Maybe a packet of biscuits.
just enough so they can have toast or a sandwich when they get in and they don’t have to rush out for shopping.

Milk, bread, cheese and eggs are the four things my very kind brother drops in to mine the day before or of my return. It's great!

Milk, bread, eggs and biscuits. But the first two are the most important 😊

A couple of ready meals or a ready to cook chilled pizza.

Bananas or apples

Depends on the time of arrival. If it is late then I would appreciate a pint of milk and some toast to have breakfast the next morning.

I always have butter in the fridge and jam somewhere in the house.

Any arrival time around lunchtime means I will go out and shop when I am home.

Then I go shopping. I would say thank you for a nice gesture but wouldn't really appreciate if as I am very picky about what I buy.

Milk
Bread
Eggs
Something to make a sandwich with
Something you know they especially like?

Sad update!

I texted and asked her suggesting great & milk
and she said not to bother and that she would go to Aldi when she got back!

Oh well at least I will get the credit of thinking about it / offering!
