Worried about moving house. Need Help!

Hi all, really need some advice. I’ve been in the process of a council exchange for a long 8 months and the council have just confirmed today that the swaps approved and have asked us when we’d like to move.

I have a massive dilemma as I was recently diagnosed with endometriosis and have been waiting for surgery since the start of this year. I still don’t have a surgery date however I’ve been having pre operation appointments this month and I’m hopeful surgery will be in the next few months. To now be told the swaps approved and we should be moving soon I feel extremely stressed and unsure what to do as I’m moving over 100miles and if I move now I’ll have to register at a whole new gp and start my fight to try and get surgery for my endometriosis all over again (not to mention the waiting lists where I’m moving will be horrendous). This surgery is understandably very important to
me as I’m struggling to conceive and it’s my only hope in improving fertility. I started this swap before knowing I’d be approved for surgery and it’s not caused a big problem.

The lady who’s moving to my house has said I can move and not tell my gp (so I’m able to retain my position on the waiting list in my current town) however I don’t think that would work. I’m feeling really stressed as the thought of having to start all over again for surgery isn’t okay with me but the thought of staying here till I’ve had surgery and then having to try and swap with someone all over again is also a dreaded feeling. I wish I could find out my surgery date and tell the councils to give me 1/2 months but I know it dosent work like that.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I thought you could stay under your current hospital even if you move house if that is your choice. Eg I am under a couple of specialists, both said if I moved I could stay with them even if a long way away. I’m not sure if this is always the case though. Can you ring up to ask the question anonymously?

Why wouldn’t it work to still use your current address to stay with your GP until after the op?

DP & kids can move without you without causing suspicion.

Depends on the individual consultant I’m afraid. Some will keep patients without caring where they live - others will discharge them to their GP to be re referred (Medical Secretary).

@hyggetyggedotorg I don’t believe it’ll work as the council will be aware I’ve moved and I was told they’ll update people to inform them I’ve moved and also the people moving to my current address will have to register at a gp (most likely the one I’m currently under as there’s not many local) which will make it obvious to my gp that I no longer live there. It’s not easy to navigate around and if they found out I’ve moved they’ll instantly discharge me and I don’t want to take a risk.
