Amazon Prime delivery not next day any more and trying to make me spend minimum of £20.

It is Thurs. This evening I tried to buy something for my daughter that is needed tomorrow however every single item on Amazon is showing as delivery on Sat. No next day delivery.

I understand it's Prime day, or whatever, but I was just shopping as normal and really needed next day delivery.

Furthermore, on Monday, I tried to order some suncream for next day delivery however Amazon were trying to make me spend a mimimum £20. I gave up and went to the supermarket instead where the suncream I wanted was the same price.

I called customer service and they did not give a shiny shit. The first person I spoke to even cut me off. The second person was a bit better but didn't offer to resolve it by sorting out the next day delivery that I needed. They did cancel and refund my prime membership when requested though.

What has happened to Amazon? Prices are not cheaper anymore...Prime was good but clearly no longer functioning as it was.

Funnily enough I had a gripe, not with Amazon, Argos.

I checked online that they had what I wanted in stock, went into the store and ordered it on one of their tablets and they told me I had to come back the next day to 2 days later for it.

I was understandably a bit pissed off at this, I don't often shop at Argos but when I do it is because I want something now and back in the day that's what you did. You keyed in your code on their ordering system and you queued and you got it within minutes.

I thought what rubbish service when in this day and age you can get stuff delivered either same day or next day off Amazon. And businesses wonder why they're having to close their high street branches, because they're not operating efficiently.

So I suppose good for other businesses if amazon are also struggling to keep up with demand, although it will be short lived and purely down to the summer sale they've got going on. Sucks for anyone who is used to the convenience of having next day delivery though.

You called them to complain you couldn’t get next day delivery during their busiest week? It’s always standard that you can’t get next day delivery during prime week

redstick · 26/06/2026 00:08

You have to order by a certain time to get next day delivery, and it’s normally earlier than evening. It’s different for every item as they come from different warehouses, but clearly stated on each item page.

And yes, it takes longer during prime week for obvious reasons.

I’m guessing ordering in the evening would be in the same bracket as their same day delivery, where yes, you have to spend £20 and have had to for a long time now (which I think is understandable).

It you try again early in the morning, often the item is available as a same day.

Tbh, I would imagine they are having issues because of the weather. There's normally a reason that next day delivery disappears. It will be back.

£20 minimum for speedy delivery on some items has been around for ages. It’s a good idea to have a few products you don’t mind stocking up on. So I might buy shampoo or cereal bars to get to the £20, cos they can just sit in the cupboard until needed.

They aren’t going to listen to your complaint because it’s not a valid complaint!

DaIIasMajor · 26/06/2026 00:14

If you have Prime you don’t need to spend £20 unless you want a next day morning delivery slot.

MustardBear · 26/06/2026 00:20

I ordered something this morning at about 11am and it was delivered at about 8pm - pretty good Amazon Prime service there!

treacledan71 · 26/06/2026 00:23

I ordered a few things quite late in day and it says delivery next day. Ordered it then showing coming the day after. Wasn't the end of world but they should not say that.

It's the business model. Start out cheap and efficient. Undercut the competition then once the competition is gone they don't have to try so hard . Service goes to shit, quality is through the floor but you can't shop anywhere else because all the other businesses are closed.

We have ongoing delivery issues with Prime.

Never had a problem until we moved house to a new build estate in a different area last Autumn. At our last address we’d get next day before 1pm deliveries and same day deliveries if orders reached the £20 minimum spend.

Here, although we see Prime vans zipping around the area making deliveries, they don’t recognise the new estate even though the first houses were moved into over three years ago so our orders are delivered by Royal Mail and occasionally Evri, so you can imagine! Evri are actually the more reliable of the two.
An order I placed on Saturday for a Monday delivery finally arrived yesterday (Thursday) evening. It was tracked as being picked up by RM on Sunday morning and then RM’s tracking didn’t update again until yesterday lunchtime.

Bjorkdidit · 26/06/2026 08:46

Suncream is heavy for the price so they're not going to make a profit sending people single bottles of suncream with free next day delivery without bundling extra charges into the product cost so it's obvious they're going to discourage this.

Amazon has been shit for a few years now, almost everything is more expensive than elsewhere or is some fake no name item. I mostly only use them for Kindle books now, most of the time physical items are cheaper elsewhere.

PersephoneParlormaid · 26/06/2026 08:49

I’m sure I’ve been on the ‘pay now’ page with it showing as next day delivery, to then get an email saying it will be a day or two late. That’s not acceptable, tell me accurately before I pay.

TY78910 · 26/06/2026 11:05

A lot of items I’ve bought for next day delivery, especially in the afternoon or evening arrives in a non-Amazon van. Amazon have their own network for the regular deliveries (ordered within the right timeframe etc) but if you either pay more for faster delivery (by 1pm) or order later in the day for next day, someone who’s contracted by Amazon but not part of their fleet will deliver. For this to work, you need to do a minimum spend or pay extra.

Yeah I never have too either.

Lennonjingles · 26/06/2026 11:08

I ordered some items on Tuesday, they gave delivery of Thursday, despite being Prime members, but the delivery came Wednesday. I think because it’s special prime days, they give longer delivery times.

lisaloo88 · 26/06/2026 11:14

I'm not even ordering anything to be delivered while it’s so hot, I’d feel too bad for the delivery drivers

Teenagerantruns · 26/06/2026 11:17

Ours is never next day, l think because of where we live, im jealous my dad can order in mor8abd get it the same day, he must live near a warehouse l suppose...

catslovehairties · 26/06/2026 11:23

Ours is always next day - no minimum spend and you can order any time up until 11pm the night before.

Sadcafe · 26/06/2026 11:36

Lots of things on prime are no longer next day, it’s not just during the prime sale, one of the reasons I cancelled my membership, that and the pretty rubbish prime video
