Scared incase we regret house move

Have posted before about this, we had been swaying about moving but we know logically it is in our family's best interest to move especially while dc are young and the new house does suit our family’s size and needs much better, but I love my current house and all the precious memories its held for me in the last 30+ years.

Scared I regret it, scared the new house will never feel like home, sad that i’ll never be back in here. Even sitting in the garden today with my morning coffee I had a wobble thinking how can I leave this??

Does this feeling pass…. Has anyone experienced the same? When does it get easier or will I always feel like this ?

I loved my previous house. It the was home I brought all my kids home to from the hospital, the house with all the first memories. Some of them won’t remember it, they’re too young.

But… I now love my new house. It has more space, a better garden. I can think back very fondly to my old house, but I’m loving making new memories in this one. If you know it’s in everyone’s best interest, it sounds like it’s the right decision.

What are some of the positives about the new house, OP? I know you said bigger and more suitable but what do you like about it?

Dont forget YOU make it a home, the people who live in it. There’s no reason why you won’t end up loving it more.

@Beekmanpositives are new house has a driveway, current its a battle to get a space very small car park to a big street of houses, larger private garden, and an extra bedroom. Our DS share which is OK now but one has ASN so likely would need own space more as he gets older

That all sounds like it will make a massive difference to your quality of life. I never realised how important a driveway was til we moved to a house with one. Would never go back now.

Don't look back with regret. Make the change.
