Ask the council. Cause of death known?

RubberyChicken · 24/06/2026 19:36

BBQ

BruceAndNosh · 24/06/2026 19:37

Do you have Red Kites locally?

mondaytosunday · 24/06/2026 19:46

Animal control will come collect it.

SirChenjins · 24/06/2026 19:46

My aunt had this and her council picked it up.

thetinsoldier · 24/06/2026 19:48

The council will take it away.

Fluffypuppy1 · 24/06/2026 19:49

Our council also collect, but it cost around £30 and had to be in a black bag. Was way cheaper than the local pest control though who were charging £650.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 24/06/2026 19:50

Awww that’s sad.
we had this and put it in a woodland near our house, but we live rurally.

Oh, ours didn’t charge, but it was a couple of years ago.

Plasticdreams · 24/06/2026 19:51

Maybe it was poisoned with rats poison

Councils will clear off their own land - but not from a private garden.

MariaMagdalenaa · 24/06/2026 19:54

We had this and councils won’t collect from private garden, so we carried it out the front and put it on the pavement and then called the council. Felt really stupid.

Very good point. Best not to leave it out for red kites or in a wild place for nature to take its course then.

I was about to suggest this.

Hang, what’s that I see, it’s the fox. It’s has had a last little burst of energy and made its way out of the garden and onto the street. Oh dear, that was clearly too much exertion for it and it’s has now died for good. Oh what a shame.

Abcdgse · 24/06/2026 19:58

This happened to me once. I put it in a black bag and put a note
with dead fox written on it and put it on the kerb then i called council and told them there was a dead fox in a black bag they came and got it.

Toffeefudgecaramel · 24/06/2026 20:00

Why can't you put it in a plastic bag and then in the bin for collection with the general rubbish?

Toffeefudgecaramel · 24/06/2026 20:01

Or I suppose you could incinerate it.

That's probably what I'd do too.

smallgreenandsplitthreeways · 24/06/2026 20:05

If you pick it up make sure you wear gloves. Foxes carry all sorts of lovely pathogens and parasites! Move it some distance away from your house because it will absolutely Pong. Alternatively just bury it in your garden (providing it’s not any where near a water course).

This weather it would smell bad really quickly. And alot of councils are fortnightly collection now.

We had one last week on the pavement outside our house and the council came and removed it, no charge.

Lots of bins stink anyway.

This could well attract a fixed penalty fine, anything larger than small vermin like a mouse must not go in household waste.
