We can pick it up and put it in a box (maybe) but where to put it??

Or I suppose you could incinerate it.

How many people do you think have their own in incinerating facilities?

Poor fox.

Sweetsugarinthehold · 24/06/2026 21:43

Don’t do a sky burial, if it was poorly or poisoned it will make the birds sick. Call the council to collect it. If they won’t (as ours didn’t) bag it up in liners and tell them you’ve left it on the curb and hopefully they’ll then fetch it.

Why can't you put it in a plastic bag and then in the bin for collection with the general rubbish?

Do NOT do this unless they’re collecting the bins in 30 minutes’ time. The stench of a rotting animal in your bin will be in your nostrils for a very long time (weeks) 😫

I would just bury it. Wouldn’t think twice.

Same here. Give it a decent burial.

Parts of it are past it… 🤢🤢🤢 So many flies…

You're a braver person than I am for going anywhere near it! 🤢

Waitingfordoggo · 24/06/2026 21:49

We had one in our street once. I reported it to the council and they collected it a few hours later.

Weirdly, a few days later, I got a text from the council saying

Thank you for reporting: DEAD FOX. Our operatives will collect it as soon as possible.

I laughed at the capital letters and the fact the text came so long after the event.

Pop it in the freezer then head in for some crimble crumble 🤣

I was looking for this comment.

Lovely bit of squirrel.

Why should the other vet's clients pay for that though?

Some people really are petty . . . . . . .

Vets also generally look after and treat animals that are brought in, wild or otherwise, that need help. Something else to get upset about.

WellThatIsABitMad · 24/06/2026 22:23

Your local authority will collect it - you can contact them online to request.

It's not petty to not want to pay for something like this when there are plenty of free options. I have no problem with vets treating wildlife but this is hardly treating.

You might not agree with me but no need to call me petty simply for having a different opinion to you.

Why do you imagine the vet would charge this to his other clients?

Many years ago my Mother had a fox stole which fascinated us children at the time.

Could you make one of those?
There's probably a tutorial on Youtube on how to do it.

My grandmother had one of these complete with glass eyes. I once wore it in a junior school play where I played the part of a duchess! 😂

coronafiona · 25/06/2026 01:56

Put it in the bin

ShakyBake · 25/06/2026 04:54

Have you thought about donating it for medical research? I can give you a number if so, is he in good condition?

Iizzyb · 25/06/2026 05:56

Don’t put it in your bin. I still can’t unsee our family bin a few days after my df put a rat in it (thanks cat for leaving it on our doorstep) it must be coming up to 40 years ago 🤢🤢🤢

SirChenjins · 25/06/2026 06:00

Mr 🦊 has already been laid to rest, people! The OP confirmed that a while back.

Letsgetonwithit · 25/06/2026 06:16

KilkennyCats · 25/06/2026 00:19

Why do you imagine the vet would charge this to his other clients?

Because if they are doing free services such as this they will take the money back elsewhere i.e. by raising prices for other services. It's not coming out the vet's own pocket is it.

garlicandsapphires · 25/06/2026 06:27

Im surprised at those advocating putting it in a bin - it will absolutely honk in this weather! Digging a grave will be very hard work, they need to be much deeper than you realise. Take it to the vet OP - but quickly!!

Councils will clear off their own land - but not from a private garden.

Yes I would move it to the street and ring the council.

HumbleStumble · 25/06/2026 06:53

Massive salad?

Wonder if it tastes like chicken?
