Heatwave + Ofsted, how does it work?

How will a primary Ofsted work during this heatwave?

Also, if you are a Senco would you prefer parents to hold off on a question about transition arrangements this Friday until the inspection is over (Thurs) or prefer to have it today (Weds) while inspectors are in?

I’d leave your transition question until after the inspection or even next week if not urgent. You can always email.
The SENCO might have a meeting with the inspector.
Lots of experience of Ofsted but not during a heat wave.

Thank you. Ds has his first transition visit to a specialist setting this Friday morning. I will take DS but haven't heard if anyone from primary will attend. I don't know if I'll be allowed in or only a TA.

The new placement emailed me with the dates and said primary would contact with further details. I intended to email on Monday if I hadn't heard anything but then the 'Ofsted coming' message arrived. And the heatwave.

(I did contact the new placement a couple of weeks ago re parking and other arrangements but no reply yet so will probably phone them later)

Well done accessing specialist provision. I know how tough it can be.
Hope the visit goes well. A parent would not usually stay for a transition session. It would depend on the setting whether a current TA would attend.
I expect there will be a transition meeting before the end of term.

An Ofsted inspection during hot weather is one of my most unpleasant memories and I’ve suffered plenty of Ofsted inspections. As SENCo, I had a meeting with them after school in a small airless room. I could barely function.

I would like to try to carry on as normal I think, but be mindful that there may be meetings going on.
