The DC are in bed, without having unloaded the dishwasher which is the one task I asked of them today. I despair.

I’m in my 28.2° bedroom. It’s actually fine when lying on top of the covers. There’s a very slight breeze and the fan’s not even on.

One cat is snoozing on the floor and the other is on the lovely cool-ish balcony, probably looking for bugs.

I do love summer nights, although I’m dreading the weather (and kitchen mess)
tomorrow.

DH is downstairs. We've had a disagreement... I'm lying on top of the covers starkers about to turn my fan on and try and sleep. I'm still simmering in every sense of the word

Not long finished watching the England game. Sitting in front of a fan and catching up with the isle of wight festival.
Feeling very hot and very bothered

HappiestSleeping · Yesterday 00:01

I'm in bed, a dog I have boarding is here too. It's hot, but not too bad. The dishwasher is on, and I'm hoping I feel lively enough to do it all again tomorrow.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · Yesterday 00:05

I've just finished hanging the washing out and doing the dish washer and a kitchen tidy. Just watching a bit of telly before I go up.

DH in the cold shower, just got home from a networking event.

DC are in bed, the one on the top floor has the fan on full whack, no one else has a fan. Each room is 29.4 degrees. It was slightly cooler earlier but I opened the windows too soon 😕

I just made gazpacho before my shower, it's chilling in the the fridge. Now it's time for bed. Good night!

Words to live by, @HappiestSleeping !

I’m a bit surprised by how annoyed I am that my teens didn’t do the one thing I asked of them. I suppose it’s really normal for teenagers to not really care about that sort of thing? Do I just need to be stricter? I’m the only one who turns the dishwasher on, and they won’t unload it until asked, just stack up more and more dirty dishes all around the kitchen until there are almost enough for a new load!

Sleep well! The gazpacho sounds like a fabulous idea.

I'm lying on my bed, listening to an owl screeching outside. Ds is downstairs playing computer games. A'levels are over so he's free to do as he pleases, but he's working at the pool tomorrow so will need some sleep.

SaraHoliday · Yesterday 00:35

It's just too hot!

lilybit2025 · Yesterday 00:36

Both in bed. Even brought the dog up to bed )she's only allowed to sleep with us on a Wednesday night as house work and bed stripping happens every Thursday but tonight we've allowed it as we have a fan. DP is asleep snoring his head off with the fan blowing on his back and i'm on the edge of the bed as our dachshund is taking up half of it even though she's the size of a bloody sausage! Literally! Also I'm a night owl so struggle to settle before 1am

DC are in their bedrooms. Both are young adults so don’t have bedtimes so I’m not sure if they’re awake or asleep yet.

DH and I are in the living room watching the Panama v Croatia game. Well I am. DH keeps falling asleep then waking up and moving and falling asleep in a different weird position. We still have the window wide open trying to cool down the room but a massive moth has just come into the room so might have to consider closing it again soon.

I’m also playing Animal Crossing New Horizons on the Switch. It’s my little comfort game.

tinyspiny · Yesterday 00:53

I’m watching the Panama v Croatia game in bed , 2 fans on but it’s still very hot , I’ve got a book that I’m going to finish after the football .

StolenTeapots · Yesterday 00:55

Dp sleeping beside me. Baby in cot on other side. I can't sleep as keep worrying baby too hot (feels ok and has just had a feed so well hydrated) so can't sleep.

I have straight jacketed by 17 year old lab x corgi who was into a wet t shirt I’ve tied it with bobbles. If that doesn’t work I’ll takin him in the basement where he will be fine but I have to be lead by him because he’s 30kg and absolutely not a fan of being picked up which he would need to be if we were in the basement because the ateps are very steeps and he yeets himself off the middle of it on purpose 🤦‍♀️😭

Dd is upstairs doing I don’t know what. Ds is listening to music sat with Dh and me. Dh is writing on his iPad . I’m on my phone writing this 😀. Tv is on in the background - Panama v Croatia - to see what Panama will be like as England opposition. It’s half time right now. I’m not paying huge attention but I think Panama could be tougher opponents than I hoped. 😬

Tonight BBC has gone with 3 women discussing the match at half time.

Also sitting as close to electric fans as possible. And I’m aware I’m distracting myself from putting the last things in the dishwasher.

Going to make a coffee in a minute. Wish it was an iced one.

Friendlygingercat · Yesterday 01:23

Its nearly 1.30 am and I am waiting for one of my grad students to dial in from another time zone.

StarCourt · Yesterday 01:30

DD is in the living room watching tv. I’m on top of my bed with the ceiling fan on, the window open and a fan on My desk. the dog is asleep under my window, I threw the cats out ax they were jumping around trying to catch the 3 crane flies in my room. Too hot to sleep

Ree730 · Yesterday 01:40

My 6 month old woke about an hour and a half ago. She had a bottle and refuses to go back in her cot. Three times I’ve tried but her eyes ping open every time.

I’m currently sat with her laid across me willing her to go into a deep sleep so I hopefully (4th time lucky) put her to bed and go to sleep myself.
