How to feed goldfinches safely without using hanging feeders?

I can hear that there are goldfinches in/around my garden. They often turn up around this time of year and usually I have a hanging feeder of niger seeds, which they love.
RSPB advice though is not to use hanging feeders at this time of year. If I put seeds on the ground or shed roof the fat fuck wood pigeons just come and hoover them all up.
I've planted teasels in the hope of generating seeds for the goldfinches to eat, but they are yet to grow.
How else can I try to feed them safely?

I thought you could use hanging feeders and feed suet based food and mealworms. It's flat feeders/bird tables that are advised against as the flat surface can spread bacteria

They say you should 'retire' flat-surfaced feeders ie never use them, but 'Pause filling bird feeders with seed and peanuts' at this time of year.

They're a bird food company; of course they don't want people to stop buying food.

There's lots of food around this time of year for goldfinches, they won't go hungry, so I'm not feeding until November as per the guidelines.

I miss them though; our love the niger seeds too and if the feeder was out we could easily have a dozen or more flitting around and squabbling amongst themselves.

@AlwaysExtraHot I know they’re a bird food co I buy from them.
Seen similar advice from other sources.
Is your feeder one just for finches? I have one of those with Niger seeds but the finches don’t go near it. They just use the tube feeder which I clean regularly.

I hope there’s plenty of food for them. Usually in the summer they’re queuing up at my feeder, so I suppose I’ve always assumed they really need it.

Yes, I have a Niger seed one with tiny apertures that only the goldfinches’ beaks can get into. When I put it up it’s very popular.
