Useful tip for keeping cool at home during hot weather

First time posting- please be kind. I just wanted to mention a tip I use when the weather is hot ( I’m in the northeast so I don’t have to use it too often….). Put some cold water in a hot water bottle then pop it in the freezer. It’s perfect for cooling down when at home. I usually wrap a pillowcase or thin towel around it so it’s not directly on my skin.
If this tip helps just one person, I’ll be a happy bunny. 🐰

A cold wet thin sports towel around your neck. Better if it’s been in a ziplock bag in the fridge beforehand

I actually did know this one but had forgotten it, but just popped all our hwbs in freezer for tonight! (Whilst googling cost of getting whole house fitted with air conditioning and wondering whether it’s worth never going on holiday again!)
Thanks ☺️

Can I check - does this make the hot water bottle unsafe for hot water in winter? Or does freezing it make no difference to its ability to hold hot water.

We use a cold pack (like for a picnic bag) slid into a thin sock so it doesn't freezer burn us and take to bed with us. The children like asking for a "cold-water -bottle sock".

Go in the shower or wipe yourself down with a wet flannel then lay infront of a fan

Open the loft hatch, to let the heat escape.

My tactic was to buy an air conditioning unit. Works well 😂

If you use a hot water bottle in the freezer - keep it for cold only and get a new one for hot just to be safe

Yes, it makes it unsafe for filling with hot water. You can buy large cold packs online to freeze instead, made to withstand repeated freezing.

Take a tepid bath or shower then get out wet and let yourself air dry in front of a fan.
