Anyone found a decent AC unit for a reasonable price?

3 storey home and DS1s room is on 3rd floor (not loft conversion, he also has the heavily insulated loft above him which I suspect doesn't help) and his room gets unbearably hot.

This is our 3rd year in this home and I really need to find a solution for him as I am overwhelmed by the heat when i just walk up the stairs!

Not the window ones just the normal, though may be convinced if that needed?!

If you get one, choose one that's quiet - next doors have theirs lower ground floor at front, we're trying to sleep upper first floor back, and can hear it.

Might be worth making a bed up for him on the ground floor for mid week if you can't find a quick solution.

I looked into that and the units themselves at around £500 aren't too bad but apparently installing them costs arounf £1.5 to £2k!!!

Yes it’s not cheap BUT in addition to the summer cooling it gives a very economic alternative to heating the rooms you are using for perhaps two months at each end of the summer ( 4 in total) when you don’t really want to put the central heating on but just finding it too cold to be comfortable. Those four extra months make a big saving.
