Book recommendations for 8 year olds

My 8 year old is an avid reader and I could do with some suggestions.
He's read all the bunny vs monkey books. Dogman goes down well, but they're rarely available in the library.
Beast quest is well received, but they're seeming quite samey and he easily reads 1 per day.
He can lose himself in a David Walliams, but I refuse to buy them to not support the author. Son has a few he was given and enjoys them.
Any recommendations please?

Has he tried the Mr Gum books? The first one especially is very good.

Sounds right up his street! Reminds me of Dave the Cat when he was about 4 😆 he loved that book!

Here are a few recent reads from our house which went down well:

Pamela Butchart books - child friendly silly versions of greek myths such as Icarus was Ridiculous. Good for a giggle. Very quick/easy reads.
The adventure series (Enid blyton)
The adventurers (Jemma Hatt)
The cousins stories (Enid Blyton)
Who Let The Gods Out series (Maz Evans) - loosely based on greek mythology
First few harry potter books
Agents of suit (kinda comic style)
The boy who grew/lived with/flew dragons (Andy shepherd)
Ancient Myths Box Set by Geraldine McCaughrean
Where dragons fly series (Hannah sparks)
Investigators series (another comic style one)
Tom gates books (more comic style again)
The land of lost things (same order as the 39 storey treehouse series which also went down well but I didn't like it much)
Tales of an 8 bit warrior series (it's Minecraft, but in book/story form)
Leonora Bolt - inventor books
Jack Beechwhistle - by Kes somebody
Glam & Beardy: volume 1
Buzz Sausage Wolf (pure silliness)
