What time is acceptable?

OP posts:
StudyinBlue · 21/06/2026 09:11

Any time after 9am to about 9pm.

TokyoSushi · 21/06/2026 09:11

9

Duvetdayforme · 21/06/2026 09:12

Any time from 8:30 till 8

Icecreamisthebest · 21/06/2026 09:12

9am

frozendaisy · 21/06/2026 09:12

Half 8 cheeky but can see people want to get it done before it gets too hot

9am onwards fine

Bigwineglass · 21/06/2026 09:13

After 9 although in this weather I suppose you could be forgiven if you are doing it early.

To be honest, I would like to see a ban on all noisy tools on a Sunday even though we are guilty of it sometimes.

RNApolymerase · 21/06/2026 09:13

My neighbour was doing hers at nearly 11 last night, not sure that was better.

7238SM · 21/06/2026 09:14

10am. I'd normally be up earlier, but on the odd day I'd sleep in till 9:30 or just want peace first thing. Its 9:14 now and I can only hear birds.

What time do you think is ok OP?

CelticSilver · 21/06/2026 09:16

My neighbour fired up his ride-on at 8am this morning.

HelloCheekyCat · 21/06/2026 09:17

My neighbour has just started so apparently after 9am
to be fair based on the temp. t's meant to be today I think it's acceptable because it's going to be too hot later

TheyGrewUp · 21/06/2026 09:19

It depends where you live and your neighbours, and how long it takes.

Our youngest neighbour is late 50s, eldest early 90s. Large gardens and well spaced houses. I don't think anyone sleeps in, in the mornings.

Lawns take 1.5 to 2 hours (1/2 acre). I think 8/8.30 would be fine. Nobody ever does it on a Sunday - never heard a mower on a Sunday.

In our last house, London, Semi, houses v close together, lots of families, after 9am but it took 20/25 mins.

stinky · 21/06/2026 09:21

Thanks for all the comments, I was thinking 10am but husband says 9.30am is ok. A car alarm has just gone off so probably has woken anyone still asleep.

10am for me too on a weekend.

Dearg · 21/06/2026 09:24

Well my neighbour is away and her sons had a party last night and it went on, and on. So loud I closed the windows.

After a hot and somewhat grumpy night, DH was put at 8 sharp, cutting the grass, as some sort of revenge.

Doubt they noticed, probably passed out .

Normally, I would say 9 am.

Secretseverywhere · 21/06/2026 09:27

I think it’s better for the grass to cut it very early or late. I try and mow mines at 8am or 8pm hopefully with a bit of rain forecast to help grass recover. I have no neighbours though so I’d try and be considerate if I did. Do people find they know the sleep schedules of their neighbours? The council can be out grass cutting from 7:30am in the summer.

Nitgel · 21/06/2026 09:28

10am

LondonLass2026 · 21/06/2026 09:29

My neighbour doesn't work but still leaves hers to 9pm all the time. It's so annoying. I'd far rather 8/9am.

HelpMeGetThrough · 21/06/2026 09:33

I’ll be firing up the mower shortly, followed by the strimmer and then hedge trimmer.

I want it done, so I can sit out with a beer this afternoon.

Floppyearedlab · 21/06/2026 09:38

I did mine at 830 pm in the last heatwave as passive aggressive revenge for the neighbours allowing their kids to make noise in the garden at 7am.

But in answer to your question 9am is fine

RollonSpringplease · 21/06/2026 09:40

Woken up at 8am with mowers going on my estate. I think 9.30 onwards is acceptable.

Move to Germany. It's not allowed and it's lovely

ThirdStorm · 21/06/2026 09:48

My neighbour started at 8.45am. It felt too early and totally broke the peace. I think on a Sunday 9.30-10am is much better.
