Hartlepool

Icequeen01 · 21/06/2026 05:48

Ashford now known as Trashford. Awful place now.

Snufkin88 · 21/06/2026 05:54

I haven’t been to many places in England/Scotland/Wales anywhere I’ve been there has been touristy and pretty. I love holidaying in Northern Ireland and love Belfast and think the people are really friendly in general but some of the more rural towns give off really bad vibes and are places I wouldn’t stop the car unless I had no other option.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 21/06/2026 05:55

Milton Keynes

Feel the need to stand up for Bradford. The Alhambra theatre, the Media Museum, Cartwright Hall, Bolling Hall, Salts Mill, City of Culture- Turner Prize exhibition recently. Bronte country, Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
Great curry.

MinnieMountain · 21/06/2026 05:55

Newport in Gwent.

Great Yarmouth.

Birmingham. I want to like it, it could have so much going for it but it's just grim.

I think those are both quite nice, possibly I have low standards 😂

Falmouth is my favourite place in the uk! It’s beautiful and really cool.

hated Glastonbury. Had a really creepy, ominous vibe and gave me a headache

Great Yarmouth. Apparently it used to be a nice seaside town but I went there two years ago and it is a sad, unnerving dump. Saying that, I found a sweet little cafe run by a family from somewhere in Europe (not sure whether they were from Romania or Bulgaria), and a decent chip shop. I'd booked a night in a B&B so I stayed, but the next day I couldn't get out of there fast enough 😱

It's an absolute dump. I don't get how places like Great Yarmouth think they'll ever improve by voting for fascist millionaires. All it does is tell anyone with money and a modicum of decency and sense to stay well clear.

lovecotswoldsliving · 21/06/2026 06:03

Glasgow.
Peterhead
Hull

olympicsrock · 21/06/2026 06:04

Boston , Lincolnshire. The whole area stinks of fart for two months every August / September due to the rotting cabbage and cauliflowers etc in the fields . Highest rate of obesity in the UK and high rate of consanguinity ) inbreeding aka cousin fucking. It’s a special place ….

Wheretogofromheaaar · 21/06/2026 06:23

Blackpool again. Never been before. Took my daughter. Grffalo centre was cool, but very much a one and done kind of day for us.

Chlorpool · 21/06/2026 06:23

Another vote for Blackpool, is grim.

A perfectly nice place that I hate is Harrogate. The inhabitants, imo, are horrible, self important and generally unfriendly. Think Mrs Slocombe levels of attitude in shops.

Chesterfield
Loughborough

Why?

Rightsraptor · 21/06/2026 06:30

All of you who are so down on Bradford, do you know it's a metropolitan district that covers a huge area? As Halfasleep says above, it covers some glorious and historic areas.

Yes, areas around the city centre can be grim - often due to the lack of civic pride in their residents who seem to think dumping mattresses and garbage in the street is acceptable - but that's true of many cities. The centre is still undergoing a lot of regeneration. It has wonderful Victorian buildings, many of which are derelict it's true, and it's hard to find a use for them. The City Hall is astonishing. Bradford hosts the third largest literature festival in the country.

Now we've got rid of the wretched Labour Council, things might get even better.

I’ve seen Lowestoft been mentioned a few times. I live here, it is a very deprived sea side town, what part did everyone go to? Sparrows nest is a nice area, so is Oulton broad, we have a lovely beach too, town area is a shit hole I agree but this town is very safe and there’s a lot worse places out there

This is good to know, I will be going there soon and some of the posts on here made me regret my choice of holiday destination!

Dungeness. Famous for being the UK's only officially classified desert, it features a stark shingle landscape dotted with abandoned fishing boats, distinctive wooden houses, two lighthouses, and the imposing Dungeness nuclear power stations. I felt really depressed when I went there.

I loved Dungeness.

I was going to say Folkestone. Brexit Corner with a side-helping of menace. Peopled largely by the sorts of folk who you see on the TV banging on prison vans when a murderer is sentenced. Horrible place.

Level1469 · 21/06/2026 03:25

What are you talking about, we have the only orange pavement in Britain!

The last time I went to Birkenhead i spent most of my time avoiding mobility scooters, they were everywhere. The drivers are not pensioners either, most of them looked about 50!

Missingducks · 21/06/2026 06:37

Crawley - it's called Creepy Crawley in this house

peachie82 · 21/06/2026 06:41

Random one but Saltaire. Found it very creepy for some reason. Also didn’t like Leicester -just felt soulless, run down and a bit off.

In the last few years I’ve found York and Chester centres very disappointing. Don’t get the appeal.

Chester and York are the worst places you've been to in the UK? Have you not been anywhere else?

Duvetdayforme · 21/06/2026 06:44

Walney Island

StinkerTroll · 21/06/2026 06:45

Barrow in furness is horrible, surrounding area is lovely but Barrow itself is awful

Squirrelsnut · 21/06/2026 06:45

I don't think anyone has mentioned Peterborough yet. It's normally popular on these threads. I grew up nearby and it's not that bad, particularly compared to some of the other places mentioned.

Shakeitall · 20/06/2026 23:09

Isle of Sheppey (for work), couldn’t get back across the bridge fast enough. It felt like deprivation from the 1970s.

It’s known as Cabbage Island locally.
