Going to be in Newcastle for 3 days. What are your recommendations for best restaurants (only need 2 nights).

Also what are the ‘must sees’? Already got Angel of the North + Baltic Centre on the list.

It’s been a few years since I went to Newcastle but I used to like eating at The Broad Chard and going to Tynemouth

I really enjoy the Laing gallery and the Hancock museum but it really depends what interests you.

The angel of the north can just be seen from the car… maybe I’m being unfair but it’s never blown my mind!

Edit to add Tynemouth is lovely as PP recommended.

We’ve just come back from a night away in Newcastle. If you like Indian food ‘Simla’ is very nice and not expensive. We’ve eaten at Babucho’s a few times which has a good atmosphere. Also, Victor’s - which is quite instagramable if that’s your thing. We had a cocktail sat on the balcony at the roof top bar at The Vermont Hotel with great views over the rooftops down to The Tyne. There was music on in Ruhm (lively and fun) and also The Dubliner. Walking along the Quayside is a must. I must say it’s a great city as everywhere you go people are very friendly and welcoming which is a credit to the Geordie people. Enjoy your break away.

Depends what food you like.

Alfies for fried chicken

Maven at the Vermont hotel is reasonable and the food is fantastic. They've got meat, fish and vegetarian on the menu this month. The Viet shaking beef is lovely.

The Flower Cafe near the monument is good for cocktails, coffee and cake.

Fenwick has a lot of different restsursnts and cafés instore. Fuego is great.

Zaap for Thai food.

The Barn Door in Heaton is lovely, as is the Butterfly Café.

Ernest in Ouseburn.
