Where do you put your salt lamp?

DD has had a salt lamp for a couple of years. She put it on a bedside table in her bedroom and over the time she's had it, it has absolutely destroyed the paintwork on the wall behind it and on the table it sits on.

Has anyone else's paintwork been ruined by a salt lamp? I had no idea they could be so corrosive. DD loves it though. Where the hell do we put this thing?

Not paint but it ruined a wooden side table. I now keep mine on a cork board from Ikea (actually a 3 pack of pan stands for like £2) that I replace every 4/6 months depending on usage. I’ve found it soaks up any seepage and protects whatever surface.

If you have it on 24/7, it shouldn’t cause problems but even turning it off for a few hours is enough for it to start weeping.
