Train arriving at 6.05pm into Victoria. Can't go any earlier, as I work in a school.

Hamilton starts at 7.30pm. I'd like to be in our seats for 7.15pm.

Where should we go for dinner on my 50th birthday?

Seriously? Those time pressures I'd just grab something in Leon. Victoria concourse. Or somewhere else fast in the station. Or buy a sandwich! 😂 Or eat after.
There's no way you can get off a train at 6.05, eat somewhere nice and proper and be in your seats for 7.15. I know you can virtually see Hamilton from the station, but still. Just grab something!

Flat iron is between the station & Hamilton but I don’t think you’d have time to enjoy iy

there is also the timeout market between the station and Hamilton but most of the food is cooked fresh so it would be tight for time

There is an Italian in the station maybe Zizis we ate there quickly when we went to Hamilton it sounds rushed especially for your birthday.

Tiptopflipflop · 20/06/2026 12:35

Realistically your best bet would be Bill's or Zizzis for speed and proximity to theatre. But Brother Marcus is a bit nicer and only another two minutes away.

Unfortunately you don't have time for somewhere nicer.

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 20/06/2026 12:36

I agree with pp that you need something quick. Wagamama or something like that.

northerngoldilocks · 20/06/2026 12:37

MarketHalls would be fine with that turnaround. It’s opposite the station and on the way to the theatre. It wouldn’t be relaxed though!

Lomonald · 20/06/2026 12:41

I am sure my Dd ordered our food in advance it was a couple of years ago now but we were in and out quickly.

CornishPorsche · 20/06/2026 12:45

The Market Halls is a good option.

StunHun · 20/06/2026 13:00

Another vote for Market Halls. Ideal for a quick eat, plenty of variety, and really close to the theatre.

ScoobyDoesnt · 20/06/2026 13:03

Definitely Market Halls - loads of choice, and quick and easy.

How long is the train journey? Think I’d prefer a nice deli spread on the train and a glass of wine, rather than having to wolf down dinner in a chain restaurant. Is eating after an option? We much prefer to eat after the theatre.

This place was my first thought, but wondered if there was anywhere nicer for the hour.

Market halls is good. They have a nice rooftop bar

Londonmummy66 · 20/06/2026 13:24

I'd suggest having a nice picnic on the train and then spending the hour having a cocktail at the Clermont - its the hotel that backs onto Victoria Station. I think the door between the two has been closed since COVID but its still quick to get to and has a nice cocktail lounge on the first floor. Im not sure if you can book a table but it has never been that busy when I;ve gone.

There's a Prezzo upstairs. But I agree with everyone else. Factor in getting from train to restaurant, restaurant to theatre, visiting loo, you'll have more like 40 minutes to order and eat. That's time to have a coffee and sandwich comfortably, not a proper meal.

Ah ok Prezzo I wasn't sure. it was fine for a quick dinner.
