Anything and everything being sung by Karen Carpenter. I am sure she is well loved by many but, to me, her sickly-sweet voice is nauseating. She is second only to the very-nearly-almost-not-quite-laughing and sickly-sweet voice advertising river cruises - you know the one.

I will probably get attacked for this but I feel the same way about Kate Bush and just have never got 'the hype'!
Another on in the same ilk has to Florence (and the Machine)...WTAF is she all about?🙄

Bubblewrapart · 20/06/2026 20:27

Gorillaz feel good - I hate the laugh. Gives me the heebies.

Uptown funk - reminds me of a really crap thing which happened once.

Come on Eileen - just don't like it.

😆
I never 'got' Go West or that song (mind you, I was all about alternative rock when it came out).
The video was so weird. I only found out very recently that they're English and not American, which made the aesthetic in the video seem even weirder.

As it happens the dog got sick so I missed that particular bullet! I never wanted to go anyway but my husband was gifted tickets. Btw Richard Drummie is local to me - I see him on the bus!

spice girls wannabe is truly dreadful and always an instant switch off for me

Lievre · 20/06/2026 20:43

Born in the USA

ItsTooEarlyForThis · 20/06/2026 21:26

Imagine by John Lennon.
I hate it far too intensely considering I love the Beatles and pretty much every song they did.
Also anything by Drake. I don’t know why I hate him as much as I do 🙈

StinkerTroll · 20/06/2026 21:36

Sweet Caroline makes me want to smash stuff!! My colleague sings 'swede, carrot and lime which genuinely makes me laugh (on a side note my name isn't really 'StinkerTroll!!)

Yes I've always hated it. But like most of their other songs

That's now my earworm for the evening🖕
Loving not your work, though.

Sorry! But at least you didn't have to suffer it every day for god knows how long like i did. Thank you, burglar! 🤣

Id be destroyed to be at Wimbledon in days gone by and rain stopped play
Up steps dickhead Cliff to sing🤮🤮🤮

I always remember my dear dad saying "as if the spectators at Wimbledon hadn't suffered enough with the rain lashing down. Then bloody Cliff Richard gets up to sing!" 🤣

Whitebonny12 · 20/06/2026 21:49

Sexual healing by Marvin Gaye. It's so effing cringe, basically a song about waking your partner up in the night to have sex. If my husband did that I'd suffocate him with the pillow.

Also, that Cockney Rebel song Come up and see me. Steve Harley's vocals sound like a strangled cat and I can't for the life of me understand how he was ever considered a singer.

HighHeelsRedLips · 20/06/2026 21:51

Rod Stewart

Greenandyellowday · 20/06/2026 22:16

All of these give me the rage and I have to switch off or talk over them or walk out of the room:

The Doors "Light my Fire" - oh fuck off with your demands, you arrogant, writhy, leather clad asshole.

The Oasis one about the sister and blister - awful rhymes for no reason and, like most Oasis songs, it makes no sense.

Billy Ocean "Red Light" for being rapey.
Also can't stand "Get into my Car" or "Caribbean Queen".

Rod Stewart "Sexy" song.

Madonna "Like a Virgin" and "Like a Prayer" and actually anything by Madonna - she sounds like Pinky and/or Perky but with less vocal talent.

David Bowie "Modern Love" - aaargh!

Eagles "Hotel California" - I don't really dislike this song, but if you've ever lived in the US you'll know that it's inescapable and seems to be played on the radio every 30 minutes.

Van Morrison "Brown Eyed Girl" - don't know why, but I utterly despise this song.

And on all of the following I agree with PP:

Santana "Smooth" - major rage!
Toploader "Dancing in the Moonlight" - I can't explain why I hate it so very much!
Ash "Girl from Mars" - I think it's the (lack of) scansion in the lyrics and the frantic pace.
Spin Doctors "Two Princes" - this was also inescapable on American radio at the time.
Beautiful South "Perfect Ten" - because it's sleazy disguised as woke, bleurgh.

Kiss from a rose by Seal.
Wind beneath my wings by Bette Midler.
Jet by Paul McCartney.

Ooh I love kiss from a rose!

Aluna · 20/06/2026 22:21

I haven’t mentioned everything Kate Bush ever sang other than Wuthering Heights which is ace.

Thebinisrightthere · 20/06/2026 22:25

@Greenandyellowdayi agree. I felt like I was the only person in the world that didn't like Oasis around 1994-1997 when they were HUGE. I remember hearing about this amazing new band & all the hype surrounding them, then actually hearing one of their songs & thinking "wait...this is them?" I thought there's no way this could be the band everyone is raving about. I still can't stand them, although I don't mind their stuff away from Oasis

DefiantRabbit9 · 20/06/2026 22:31

Any Taylor Swift song

Elzibub · 20/06/2026 22:45

FastFood · 20/06/2026 22:47

Kiss by Prince. His falsetto makes me murderous.

FastFood · 20/06/2026 22:51

Oh and sorry Céline but My heart will go on is horrendous.

Kiss by Prince. His falsetto makes me murderous.

One of my favourite songs in the world. Tho I’m not keen on falsetto in general.

Blarn · 20/06/2026 23:02

I am amazed by how many times Santana's Smooth has been mentioned! I like it when it came out and its been played a lot on absolute radio recently for some reason. Dc love it when I 'singing to the guitar parts!

Ladysmirnoff1 · 20/06/2026 23:03
