What is your biggest wish?

When I was young, I wanted to change the world, but now that I'm nearly fifty, my only wish is to be able to make ends meet and not go hungry.

World socialism. The older I get the more left wing I become.

Seawolves · 19/06/2026 19:10

That my little boy continues to prove his consultant wrong and has a much longer, and happier, life than predicted.

evilharpy · 19/06/2026 19:12

That Ireland would have summers. Or at least that it would rain a lot less.

Overtheatlantic · 19/06/2026 19:13

That the animals that come to my garden never leave hungry.

Blahblahblahhhhhs · 19/06/2026 19:17

The very short term… that I either sell a book box set that I didn’t want to part with or hit a creator goal on booktok so I have an extra £50 to get though the next week.

slightly longer term (ie two weeks 😆 )daughter finishes all college work and passes her level 3

long term a happy and healthy life

A fairer and less hateful society than what's been evolving of late.🙏

When I was young, I debated ideas. Now I just want groceries to be affordable

I hope he proves them wrong for many years to come. Wishing him all the best.

Win the lottery, then all the other wishes can happen without worry.

That sounds like a wish shared by every Irish person!

That's a beautiful wish. The world needs more kindness like that.

Right now I’m wishing that my pathology results come back soon and I get told that all my cancer was removed during surgery and I won’t need any further treatment.

Besidemyselfwithworry · 19/06/2026 20:18

People say money doesn’t make people happy?
bit if we had more money we won’t be as stressed and I could make life more comfortable for me as family and friends.

Wishing you that £50, success for your daughter, and plenty of happiness and good health in the years ahead.

Scotland to win the world cup?

Ok I can dream, but more seriously I'd like to see world peace and end all wars

Agree.
It's generally accepted that you get more right wing as you age.
Not me. And I started out left wing.
The world has plenty enough resources to share if we just wanted to share.

Unselfish wish that we would live in a society that is tolerant of others in which people did not have to suffer hardship, hate and ill health.

Family wish that my children live long, happy and healthy lives.

Selfish wish that I could live a happy, healthy and peaceful life where I did not look down upon myself, feel like a failure or catastrophise, where I could enjoy my life rather than seeming to leap drama to drama, failure to failure.

Exactly. Money may not buy happiness, but it can remove a lot of the stress that gets in the way of it.

Well it's tricky. What I really want is a house. I wish for a house.

But then I think, well , if I only have one wish I should probably use it on world peace or ending world hunger.

Maybe I wish for so much money (cougheloncough) that I can have a house AND end world hunger?

The lottery seems to be the universal life plan 😄@

The council to fund the specialist school placement that even they acknowledge my son desperately needs. No cash though apparently.
They managed to spend a fair amount putting St George’s cross flags around the town centre though.

So the “selfish wish” is basically the one we all need most 😄

Hard to argue with that kind of budgeting frustration 😅
