Basically that
We are going to Mexico for 12 nights
The cats are going to my dad’s house for him to look after them.
They will be well cared for and safe (indoor cats ) but I’m so so so sad today.
They go to my dad’s tomorrow and we travel early Sunday morning.
I keep looking at them crying
I feel so guilty now
If I could I wouldn’t go
My partner would be so mad as we would loose £4500 and that’s a lot to loose for us.
I hope once I’m there I’m okay
I keep looking at them and crying

Mine stay at home and a cat sitter comes in.

having said that I’m on the train home after ten days in the lakes and looking forward to seeing them

I used to take a photo of my beloved dog on holiday with me! I used it as a bookmark.
I got separation anxiety worse than he did!!

it sounds unhealthy especially as they are going to your dads…if they were going to a cattery I would understand more. Maybe unpicking this would be helpful….going on holiday with your husband should be a really enjoyable thing…

You need to talk to someone this is a bit OTT. I love my cats, but can’t fathom your reaction, yours are going to be well looked after by someone you trust. You’re thinking of jacking in a £5k holiday……..what else is going on because your response is not average to say the least, I mean fair enough you’ll miss them but it’s too much.

YANBU to think of missing them but believe me, the minute you get to the airport you'll forget about.

Go and have a great holiday.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 19/06/2026 18:40

Have you never left them before? They are cats OP, they aren’t exactly the most loyal pet on earth, they will enjoy their time once they settle and realise there is still food and be absolutly fine.

UniquePinkSwan · 19/06/2026 18:41

Completely ott. They’re cats, they won’t even notice you’ve gone

TheChosenTwo · 19/06/2026 18:44

What am I even reading? I didn’t have this feeling when I left my children at home to go on holiday when they were small 🥴
op this is so overdramatic, they’re cats, they’re going to your dads house.

Duvetdayforme · 19/06/2026 18:51

Do you not really like spending 1:1 time with DH?

crazeekat · 19/06/2026 18:54

Op I really really miss my 5 cats and I get terrible guilt. But u still go and enjoy my holiday and the cat sitter keeps me updated with videos and pics. I understand but u are having massive guilt for them and it’s really not realistic. They will
be absolutely fine promise.
