Early help hub

Does anyone have any experience of the early help hub?

Was it useful? What did they offer/suggest to support?

We’ve been given the option of a referral and just trying to decide.

Thank you

please?

I know it’s early and hasn’t been long since I posted.

does anyone have any other ideas of something that might help? Teenager getting into all sorts of trouble….I’ve posted before.

I’ve no direct experience, but why would you not? I think if struggling take all the help offered.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along shortly.

I didn't find them even slightly useful. All they did was "signpost" us to stuff I could have found out for myself, and at least half of the info they directed us to was completely out of date and/or irrelevant.

However I did have to show engagement with them to progress to the next stage, which was a referral to the DCYPS (who were quite helpful).

So I'd accept the referral but also accept that it's probably just a stepping stone and might not be that much help in and of itself!

Ah, @BoobsOnTheMoon thank you. This is what I’m worried about! I told DP it would be signposting to parenting courses. I’ve done loads of these already (he hasn’t, to be fair, and could probably do with it!)

What’s DCYPS? I guess it’s area specific?

I’ve googled it (should have done that first, sorry!) and it does sound good, and relevant….i don’t know if that’s something we have in our area, but I’ll look into it. Thanks again!

Disabled Children and Young Persons Services, possibly called something else where you are! We ended up being allocated a specialist social worker (for disabled children, not a child protection one) who was quite helpful and supportive.

Early Help is just one stage of the graduated pathway or whatever your area call it.

Worth engaging so you're "in the system" but don't expect anything transformative from it.

This is quite encouraging. Thank you ☺️
