Older boys school trousers with elasticated waist

DS is moving up to secondary school and he has always been fussy about clothes, sensory issues, stiff fabrics are a problem. Joggers have been fine for primary but he needs proper school trousers now.

Does anywhere sell older boys trousers with an elasticated waist? Not the adjustable waist, ones with proper stretch in the waistband.

He liked these ones, but they only go up to 13-14 and he needs 14-15. We tried 13-14 with the longer length but they were too tight.

I've tried next, m&s etc.

Thank you, a few options to try!

I was hoping they'd be a mainstream brand that does them, just so I can return easily if they're no good. But I suppose it is a bit niche!

Yes next! Will try and find a link. My son is autistic and wears the next ones. They go up to age 16.

Oh I got some good ones from Amazon!! Hang on.

we went for a slightly different one as we only needed up to age 13 but also considered these: https://amzn.eu/d/0i6t0Zt4

the ones we went for if you could get away with age 13 were these:

and they have proved incredibly hard-wearing.

Ahh just seen my zeco ones have already been posted - but maybe Amazon would deliver them a bit quicker and be less fussy and faster about returns?

Hey @NameChangeScotanother kid with sensory issues here and rugby player legs just to make it even harder to find trousers. I found Sturdy Kids very good especially their ‘Happy trousers’.

I find Sainsbury’s Tu School uniform range to be excellent, though I can’t be 100% sure offhand if the older boys have elasticated waistbands.

Thanks again, those next ones look like they might fit the bill, don't know how I missed those. If not there's some other options. Thank you Mumsnet!

My son has dyspraxia and struggles with buttons. The sen teacher told me that M and s
s so a range. We also brought shirts with velcro so he is quicker getting changed

Our local school uniform shop could order some from their suppliers. We just asked if they could get hold of any with elasticated waists and they rang their supplier to confirm.

Zeco or Listers schoolwear school trousers here for a ds who's very similar and very particular about the trousers he will wear. He will accept some other trousers. I tend to have more luck with secondhand ones from Vinted as the fabric is softer.

socialdilemmawhattodo · 16/06/2026 23:24

We did ok with M&S for lots of reasons but think they may have had elastic tighteners rather than the whole waist. Son was tall and skinny so needed extra tightening!

Funny you say that about being softer from vinted, I got DS a pair of trainers on there for school residential as they'll get wrecked and he said they're 'comfiest best trainers he ever had'. Probably before someone else has worn them in 🙈. No diagnosis but there are signs!
