Trying to form new habits and looking for inspiration? Do you...

Go on night walks?
Work?
Watch a film?
Get drunk?
Order a takeaway?
Read a book?
Sit in the garden with a cup of tea?
Go for a drive?

Usually the same as I do on every other night. Watch tv and go to bed early.

Watch TV.

We’ve usually had a couple of Saturday afternoon drinks, which we like to do. Have some tea, then settle down with a cup of tea and hit the Sky planner.

I do all of them, on occasion. We have no pattern but Saturdays often include things like:

Meal & pub wih the husband
A nice drive to the loch with a bag of chips
A walk with the dog, in any weather.
A night in my PJs, crafting
A movie night with snacks, perhaps a teenager for company
A "picky bits" dinner and a few drinks, music on and chatting
Board games with the teenagers - when we can twist their arm. Usually bribed with a takeaway
A night in comfy clothes, doom scrolling on my phone until I can go to bed at 8.30pm
Sometimes a night in my "good" pyjamas, candles on, fairy lights, classical music, kindle and a nice wine.

Aka anything I/we fancy :)

I was about to start with "We don't drink or have a TV" and I realised that we must sound like the most incomprehensible bores!!!

Depending on whether the DCs are home, we might:
Have 'cocktail' hour (drinks and snacks with the adult DCs, who do drink) before dinner
Have a later, candlelit evening meal just the two of us
Go out for coffee, dinner, or ice creams
Go for a walk
Go to the cinema
Run together
Light some candles, put on some music, and read or chat

I am currently sketching out compositions for concrete landscapes whilst the house watches football!

Watch tv
Meet friends in the pub
Sometimes go to a gig
Sometimes have people over for dinner
Read if i’m in and have a good book.

Normal stuff!

Saturday nights aren't anything special for us, so pretty much the same as any other night, which could be any of the below:

Going out with DP and or DD
Going out with friends (Saturday is actually out least likely night for either of these two)
Cinema with DD
TV with DP
Gaming while DP watches TV
Watching TV while DP games
Building lego while DP games
Out for a nice walk
Going to a gig
Going to see some standup comedy
Sit in the garden with a good book (this one's almost guaranteed when it's hot)
Board games with DD and DP

Same as every other night usually. Dinner and get kids to bed. I like my sleep though so I’m not staying up later watching a film. If weather is nice though, dinner may be later and kids play outside, we might have a campfire and roast some marshmallows. On occasion, especially if it’s just me and teen dd, we might go out for dinner and watch a series we like together.

tiramisugelato · 16/06/2026 16:44

The same as every other night - watch TV, mess about online, read, play games and doomscroll.

Last Saturday we were at an Elton John tribute band !
This Saturday we are at local Gala proms night/ picnic in the park.
Sometimes out for a meal, but more often on a friday.
Often just staying in and watching TV.
In July we are going to see the pet shop boys at Lytham festival and the next saturday another tribute band.
We generally do less in the winter months..

FinallyHere · 16/06/2026 16:58

Scottish country dancing.

troppibambini6 · 16/06/2026 16:59

We quite often go out for food and drink but tend to go early doors with the kids.
We then get back at reasonable time as we usually have a full day or sport for 3 of the kids. Lots of tournaments at the mo which means early starts usually.
Otherwise we tend to stay in and watch tv.

Not sire if it’s part of peri/ menopause but I’m much less social than I used to be. I used to be the life and soul and always arranging nights out/ people coming over but I just find it so draining at the moment. I feel peopled out.
