Anyone concerned about glucosamine supplements after reports of increased Alzheimer's risk?

Just reading about a link between taking glucosamine supplements and an increased risk/likelihood of alzheimers.

I've taken these for years as they really help knee pain .. I notice a huge difference when I forget to take them.

Anyone else on these and a bit concerned?

I take it (and I think it helps me) but to be honest the scientific evidence for it's effectiveness is thin. Research suggests there may be a placebo effect. So if you are concerned then I would just stop. I do see however that there are studies showing a preventative effect on dementia so who knows!!

Someone recommended turmeric to me for joints.
