A half birthday party?

I've got a daughter with a birthday right before Christmas and she has suddenly asked for a "half birthday," which is in June. Half of me feels sorry for the poor kid because her birthday is a pain and is often overshadowed by the big C event. On the other hand I really can't be arsed to organise a party in the next couple of weeks. I think I'd need a bit more of a run-up. Does anyone do half birthdays?

I had a family member have a 59 and a half birth party. As their birthday was the 30th of December and they had spent their entire life feeling like everyone else had a day/party just for them, but they never did. Family and friends visited as part of Christmas and new year celebrations.

It was an amazing evening. She stipulated no presents, and everyone was to dress up in their finest, as if it was a movie premiere/big gala/red carpet type event.
Everyone complied and the evening was full of fun, games, challenges and events. 20 years later, it is still brought up in conversation fondly.

I understand December birthdays wanting to celebrate early, maybe like others have suggested here, do a special day out or something, and for a big birthday do a big summer bash?

Me and friend from uni had birthdays in the Christmas holidays so never got to have a birthday night out at uni, so one year we had an unbirthday party. Idea stolen from Alice in wonderland but just another excuse for a party really. But life is short, you’ve been through a lot, you all deserve a lovely party.
