Surgery for child requires 2 adults - stuck

My 8 year old has day surgery at the Hospital. The letter states that 2 adults must accompany the patient, one who will drive and one who will care for them during the journey.

This may sound like a silly question, but can an Uber driver count? DH is out of the country for work. I have asked family and they've all said they can't. The 2 friends I do have wont be able to as they have their own kids to pick up/drop off.

It's mentioned on the letter that if these instructions are not followed then the surgery will not be going ahead

I have been trying to get hold of someone at the Hospital all of last week and today but no answer

Assuming the driver does the driving, I cant imagine why not

It sounds like what is needed is a carer who isn't doing the driving. So a taxi or Uber should be fine, because you're with your daughter.

It sounds to me like they are saying the carer cannot also drive so a taxi should be fine
I probably wouldn't use an Uber though, I would phone a local taxi firm and pre book, explaining the situation

This sounds ridiculous for day surgery if a child is that unwell post surgery that they need constant monitoring in a vehicle they should not be sent home . My child has had over 15 day surgeries and I have never come across this .

It's a big ask that all families drive and 2 persons.
I would make it work out. An uber is fine.

An uber is fine. They’re more reliable than local cabs here.
