Dental implant experience

I am booked in to have 2 implants next week (one on the left side of my mouth, one on my right).

I am a bit nervous about the impact on eating, when I had the teeth removed 3 months ago I literally could not eat for over a week, not even soft food, I struggled to open my mouth due to pain and swelling and ended up on antibiotics. I am concerned that having treatment on both sides will again mean I will struggle to eat.

I am considering changing my appointment o having one side done at a time. Has anyone had a dental implant (I am having the screws put in at this point) and can tell me what it was like afterwards?

thanks

I’ve had several implants put in at the front of my mouth. It is tender afterwards for a couple of days and you’ll need to be cautious when eating. It should pass quite quickly though, helped by the dental care your implant surgeon will advise for you.

I don’t think you’ll need to have each implant done separately- better to do both and get it over with.

Afterwards you’ll be so glad you had them done.

I had three top implants done together, two together on one side and one on the other.
Dentist gave me ibuprofen before he started and recommended I took it for a couple of days- more to stop inflammation than for pain relief. He also recommended corsodyl mouthwash for a week.
I didn't have any issues with eating, no problem opening my mouth either.
I did have a lower back tooth done separately and the extraction for that was awful, took a few weeks to be able to open my mouth properly but the implant was fine and caused no issues.
