Something I noticed recently, but has come to a head this morning is that the local sparrows that frequent my garden/backyard are... to put it delicately... fat. I will admit to having been an enabler earlier in the year with putting out seed feeders and peanuts, however, I have cut them back from daily refills during the summer. I think some of my neighbours must be running the sparrow equivalent of McDonalds because the regular sparrows are sounding hefty. This morning, I was rudely awoken before 5am by tapping noises. The sound was caused by 2 small looking sparrows strutting back and forth on a double glazed glass roof at the back of the house. How the heck does something that weighs about 30 grams sound like an elephant stomping about? I'm going to have to cut them off completely, aren't I, or do I start a "bird bath body ready" club for them?
