Strange sensation of body being bigger than usual?

I sometimes have a feeling like my whole body has expanded, it feels clumsy and fat and uncomfortable. I am a slim person and I can weigh myself and know my weight has not changed, but somehow I am aware of my body in an uncomfortable way. It is not a feeling of bloating, or a feeling of having had too much salt and retaining water, it’s quite different and feels like…I’m wearing a sumo suit or something. Has anyone ever experienced this? It tends to go away after a day or so. I wonder whether it might be body dysmorphia?

It’s rare but Alice in Wonderland Syndrome is associated with certain types of migraine.

Thank you both, I was neglected as a child and have PTSD so it would fit with the depersonalisation (haven’t heard of it this way before, thank you)
And I also suffer from migraines so perhaps it is related to that too, thank you.
I am curious if anyone else has experienced this, it’s very bizarre.

I have this. For me it’s not linked to migraines.

I have feelings of dizziness, that’s how I know an episode is coming on. I feel very big/tall, un proportionately so, hugely in comparison to what I’m looking at, touching etc. it’s comes in waves of dizziness and I can feel like I’m falling from a huge height. It all started with me when I had flu as a teenager and was really ill in hospital. is this what you feel op?

I feel like this when I’m tired. If I have to get up too early for an event or flight or something my enjoyment of it is ruined because I too feel like a big sumo. I’d love to be a 5am club person but it just makes me feel massive and I have no idea why.

@skiprun no, that’s not what I have. It’s like my whole body feels different, particularly that it feels “fat” for lack of a better term, it’s like my skin in a suit that’s a couple sizes too small. In my head I can sort of see myself and I have a round and fat face. It makes me very self conscious and I can’t look in a mirror. It goes away within a day or two. I can check my weight on the scale and see that it’s the same. But somehow my body still feels different, and it’s like I can feel all of the fat tissue tingling? (Though it’s not a pins and needles feeling). It’s very uncomfortable and distracting.
