We plan on camping, it looks great going off the website but I’m aware pictures can be dated !
Any real life experiences?

I'm guessing you mean the one at Burton Bradstock. It's lovely - friendly staff, clean facilities, beach and countryside walks. Would definitely recommend it.

We stayed in the camping and caravan park bit and used all the same facilities. It was all fine but we found it a bit too busy/crowded. But I guess that just shows that it’s popular so lots of folk must like it!

How funny, we've literally just stepped in the door after returning from a lovely weekend there! It was our second time there & we rented a static caravan which we found clean, enough storage for 2 adults + 3 kids and kitchen with enough pots/pans etc. They give you bedding but you have to make your own beds. Towels not provided. All staff seemed helpful & friendly. Not sure how the costs compare to camping.

The indoor pool & slide are good but you need to book your slot on the app. The outdoor pool is heated & you don't have to book. The beach is not sandy but is great for playing. Nice walks too. The onsite pub is fine for burgers/ chips etc. There's also bowling & small arcade. Also a Spar- bring your basics though to make your life easier!

We used the shower block as we checked out, swam all day and then showered before driving home. That was great- big and clean.

We had a day in West Bay (2 minute drive or you can walk from Freshwater) & there's a great playground & beach there.

Then on the way home we all discussed when we could fit in going back! Hope you enjoy your time there! X

There’s a nice couple of pubs in village too that you can walk to. Great running fields for dogs. You’re allowed campfires on the beach at night which is lovely in the summer, marshmallows for the kids and wine for us.

30 mins walk along the beach to west bay, loads of places to eat their too and a few coastal shops. Of take the coastal path if you’re more adventurous though it’s a little bit steep at times.

onsite facilities are great though anyway. We have camped and campervanned, we go regularly as less than hours drive from home.

How far is the walk into the local village and what’s it called ? I’m glad everyone seems to have enjoyed it there, worrying a little about the shower facilities as saw a couple of new reviews on trip advisor saying they weren’t very clean! What’s the private beach like ?

The village is Burton Bradstock and is about 15 mins along a footpath. The beach is small stones and there is a river running down to it. People do swim in the sea but I would say only on calm days. It gets deep quickly and it would be easy to get into trouble. There are 2 swimming pools. Whenever I've used the showers they have been clean but I have never been in school holiday time which I guess is busier. Hope this helps.

The nearest village is Burton Bradstock, West Bay is walkable and has more places to eat and drink. The nearest town is Bridport, well worth a visit. The beach will be pea shingle, the Chesil,Bank has big rocks at the Portland end, grading down to grit at West Bay. You do need to be careful because the beach shelves steeply and if you're swimming or paddling you can suddenly find yourself in deep water, depending on the tide it is easy to get sucked out.

I go in school holidays and weekends and never had issues with cleanliness or showers. And there are always people who complain about that stuff regardless

agree with the beach, though if you wanted a beach day a short drive along the coast and you can swim at Weymouth. Plus there is sea life centre there, makes a nice extra day out for the kids if you have time.

there are other kid friendly swimming spots along the coast too. Though the pools are so great it’s a none issue.

It’s brilliant.

Mu family have been going every year for 3 generations!
