This is a common experience growing up right?

Thinking back to teens and 20s. Just snogging someone when drunk (maybe someone you partially know), perhaps you regretted it once the alcohol subsided and had to awkwardly see them around after.

Like having the "Omg what did I do? I have to see them in class in a few days." thought.

I think that's normal, probably even now.

hexsnidgett · 14/06/2026 09:57

Yes. Why do you ask? Is someone suggesting it is not?

Irislas · 14/06/2026 10:02

No, I never had that. Lots of drunken snogs but they were generally with people I'd recently met or knew from a specific circumstance, so I never bumped into them randomly. I've always lived in big cities and don't tend to bump into people I know randomly.
I went to a girls school so definitely didn't see them in class!

ArtfullyDistressed · 14/06/2026 10:08

Entirely normal. I left my small home city for university overseas and only moved back 30 years later. Was invited to a fiftieth birthday party and the first person I saw when I walked in was someone I had a drunken fumble with in 1992, looking exactly the same but wrinklier.

IdentifyingAsAWoollyMammoth · 14/06/2026 10:10

I'm sure it is common, but personally I didn't.

Laiste · 14/06/2026 10:11

Yeah.
Regretted it when the lights all came on

Snorydog · 14/06/2026 10:19

Yep, for me and my teenage friends… good times 😂

mylifeisexams · 14/06/2026 10:26

Totally normal!

KookyMoose · 14/06/2026 10:40

Yup - it's how I met my husband. We had a drunken snog in a club 😂.

Anarchy99 · 14/06/2026 10:42

Normal in the 80s/90s - although I didn’t restrict contact with strangers to a drunken fumble - I would usually shag them too.

ThisAmpleCritic · 14/06/2026 10:43

Drunk random snogging is all part of the fun of a big night out!

Anarchy99 · 14/06/2026 10:44

Actually thinking about it, it was never confined to a bit of a fumble

DreamingOfGeneHunt · 14/06/2026 10:46

Oh yes. I miss a drunken snog. My last was New Year's Eve 2010, outside a pub in Clapham, with a man called Tony. Rather lovely.

Eeew, the thought of shagging someone, then regretting it, would be a nightmare for me.

A few drunken snogs, but never drunk enough to know that when the hands started wandering, it was over.

Who said anything about regrets? We would meet, get talking and then fuck, And generally hope to never see each other again.

The OP was asking if anyone regretted it or felt awkward afterwards.

Ah well tbf I didn’t regret the experience as such but I guess I regretted that it was always someone I didn’t fancy, iyswim. Hence the hoping not to bump into them.

BakedPotatoBeansCheeseColeslaw · 14/06/2026 11:20

Extremely normal. Good times.

Drink clouds judgment, especially when we are young.
Thinking back, I'm surprised more girls didn't get into a lot more trouble than they did.
The worst drunken snog I had, was the bridegroom the night before his wedding....yeah, I know, unforgivable.😶

“Out on the windy common, that night I ain’t forgotten…”!!

Sorry, couldn’t resist 🤣

BananasCakes · 14/06/2026 16:15

It was just so awkward having to see them again in school
