Old films that badly predicted the future...

Currently watching T2;judgement day.
The terminators have come back from 2029. Not sure we're at time travel level in 3 years time

BTTF2, the characters travel back from 2015.

Both films got the future very very wrong.

What other films from the past have got the present very wrong?

Not sure that Terminator is that wrong about an AI takeover.

Blade Runner, made in 1982, set in a dystopian 2019. Off-world colonies, androids almost indistinguishable from humans, flying cars...? One of my very favourite sci-fi films, but hardly a good prediction of the future.

Sadly the opposite - ‘Idiocracy’ did a good job of predicting the future, and it doesn’t look great so far 🙁

The worse possibility is that it ended up inspiring the tech bros.

I think Musk and the Palantir guy cite Snow Crash as a touchstone

We still don't have Back to the Future's hoverboards and flying cars which were supposed to be here by 2015. Also, fax machines were well on their way out by then and we can't buy tiny pizzas to rehydrate yet.

But it correctly predicted video-calling as a norm, making payments via biometrics and the rise of wearable technology.

Edit - also voice controlled tech and keyless house entry.

Any classic Sci fi when we're in space and have robots but the only women you see are housewives, secretaries and nurses (sexy nurses).
