Hi,
Just looking for some advice re fungal toenails. I had a fungal toenail infection which had spread to all my toenails but my second and third toenails were the worst affected. After finishing breastfeeding I took terbinafine for around 6 months and then checked with a podiatrist who said it looked like the infection had cleared up and I could stop taking the tablets, that was 5 months ago now. She said my pinky toenail would probably always grow in a bit funny looking as they have been damaged from the fungal infection and possibly from footwear over the years too.
When the nail grows to a certain point, the edge of the nail hurts when I wear shoes but it does stop after a while so don't think it's ingrown. When I cut my toenails all the rest look fine but my two pinky toes are still slightly thicker and just don't grow in like normal nails. I'd have thought that the infection would grow out quicker on the smallest toenails and considering the badly affected nails now look normal, I'm wondering if it's likely to be another fungal infection or just how they are likely to look from now on due to the previous infection.
Has anyone experienced this before or have any idea?
Thanks!
