David Hockney has died. RIP. I have always liked his work so colourful and happy.

When we were children spent many mornings at Saltaire looking at the drawings and the drafts of the famous swimming pool drawing.

I was always looking for the artwork of the dog.

That's so sad.

An immense talent and thoroughly good egg. RIP David.

Anyone that puts the UK on the global stage for positive reasons gets a hearty slap on the back from me and as is so often the case - it's someone from the arts where we continue to punch above our weight imho.

A great Yorkshire man.
One of the reasons I went to art college was due to being taken around Salts Mill as a child.
I also live near the subjects of some of his later paintings of the Wolds.
Very sad

I’ve had many happy times looking at Hockney art. Not many of us have done so much. RIP.

Absolutely loved Hockney and love his work.

I grew up with his California paintings as a backdrop to a brave new youthful , hopeful world, Ossie Clark Fashion (my Mum hankering after an OC dress), fascinated by the painting of water etc.

Loved his portraits, the way he kept changing his focus, back to Yorkshire and new colour treatment. The iPad works - creating new ways of using digital work as art.

The big show at Light box - that was fascinating. I loved his narration about perspective, and portraits and what a portrait can be.

I went to Salts Mill - so powerful seeing his work in Yorkshire, his Yorkshire

And he was working util the very end. The reverse perspective new works in the Serpentine.

So many happy hours .

Thank you, David Hockney - I feel so sad to see you go.

Oh he's the artist of my youth. So sad he's died.

Such beautiful colourful and life enhancing art. What an asset to our culture and heritage

I don’t think the iPad pieces worked at all, they weren’t art to me, but he was the right person to give it a go.

I’m also sad about this and have loved his work for decades. His photo collages were my GCSE dissertation topic. I think he was a creative genius.

I've loved David Hockney's work ever since I first saw it. A great man. Grieved to hear of his death.
