Any advice on stopping cats spraying outside our front door?

Does anyone have any advice re cats marking their territory and how to stop it?

We moved into our house last year, our bedroom is at the front and we hear cats outside being noisy late at night - this isn't an issue but the cats seem to be spraying up our front door!

My partner has ordered an ultrasonic cat deterrent device which we are hoping will help, can anyone suggest anything else we can try?

The previous owner had a cat but surely after nearly a year their scent would have gone?

Looking for advice as as you can imagine cleaning cat pee off the door every few days is getting rather tiresome!

I've finally beaten the cats by putting mesh on my gate so they can't squeeze in and cat spikes on the low wall they jump over to poo in our garden. We also tried the ultrasonic thing but it didn't deter them for more than a week. So I'd go Fort Knox style.

A solution of cheap biological washing powder or liquid. It breaks down their scent.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately it's our front door so there's no way to limit access to them! Strangely don't get any poo in our garden either, just the spraying of the front door 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cat wee is incredibly difficult to get rid of, the scent just sticks forever really. Only real option is to scare them every time so they stop, change the door, or try a enzyme cleaner.

Simple Solution enzyme cleaner.

Thank you for the replies, I will try it 😊
