Water bottle recommendations - Owala not working??

WellINeverKnewThat1 · 12/06/2026 09:21

I bought my first Owala water bottle earlier this week. Absolutely love the design etc but it’s not keeping the water cold for more than a few hours?! I’ve woken up this morning after filling it with fridge cold water 10 hours ago and it’s nearly at room temperature?!

Has anyone else had the same problem? I’ve always had chilly bottles which have been excellent at keeping liquid cool. But I wanted a bottle that I could drink from with a straw and the chilly bottles with a straw get poor reviews due to leakage etc.

100% the Ninja thirsti the best bottle I have owned

Yeti Rambler water bottles are brilliant and will keep water cold for a very long time. My 6 and 10 year old kids have had theirs for over two years and they’re still in good condition. They also are dishwasher safe which a lot of insulated bottles aren’t.

I love my Owala, but I do add ice.

My partner has the Ninja Thirsti and swears by that. My kids have the SHO bottles which are also great.

@TokenGinger do you find the water stays cold for 24 hours with ice? Or at least longer than a couple of hours? It had such good reviews so I am a little bit disappointed to be honest as my chillys bottle keeps water so cold for ages!

Yes the ice really makes a difference. I have one of the ice cube trays where it’s 4 generous size rectangular bars of ice. I add one of those before bed, and it’s still frozen come morning time. It definitely helps.

I find smaller ice cube trays, just the generic sized ones, do still keep it cold, but not for a full day, so I prefer to start with a big old hunk of ice which’ll last me all day through refills.

Hydropal. Stays cold and doesn’t leak. Much prefer it to my owala.

@TokenGinger I am just a bit disappointed that you have to put ice in it for the water to remain cold!!

I hear you! Although, I must say, even in DP’s Ninja Thirsti and the kids’ SHO bottles, we still only get a few hours from fridge temp water without ice. So I’m not sure if that’s a thing with all of them, or whether I’m just not using them in the right way.

Tappings · 12/06/2026 21:19

Our super sparrows still have ice in them after 24hours.

@TokenGinger that’s interesting! With my chilly bottles I’ve never ever put ice in them and the water has stayed fridge cold for at least 12 hours! I’ve put ice in my Owala tonight to see what it’s like in the morning!!

SHO are brilliant stays ice cold all day and pretty indestructible (still going strong after 2.5 years of daily use by my primary aged kid), never found a better brand.

BeaLola · 13/06/2026 01:31

I haven’t had a problem with my Owala - kept my drink cold and I didn’t use ice

@TokenGinger just coming back to this, I have put ice in my Owala less than an hour ago, been out and about, and the ice cubes are nearly melted!! That’s not great is it?

No! I’d be really unhappy with that. I wonder if it’s a faulty bottle? I’ve just given mine a shake that I filled before bed last night and the ice is still there. I do use a big chunk of ice (I find ice cubes melt quicker), but an hour really isn’t good!

I use like these size cubes, and I have a rectangle one too. Ice cube tray
