What are your go-to shop-bought picky snacks?

So my fridge is pretty bare- just got the stuff for meals. I meal plan every meal and shop accordingly. But now I’m peckish and have no food, we are quite an ‘ingredient’ household.

Stocked store cupboard but not with SNACKS.. and I don’t want to eat some chopped tomatoes.

So tell me what your go to shop bought picky snacky bits are, because it all just seems so expensive and I have no idea what I fancy….

I love those little red peppers you get in a tub stuffed with white soft cheese. They are pretty expensive! Sun-dried tomatoes, olives, feta, along with some nice crusty bread and some lambs lettuce, and smoked salmon!

PandaG · 10/06/2026 21:49

Hummus and crackers/carrot sticks. Baby peppers stuffed with cream cheese. Cheese and biscuits. Cashew nuts.

TheChosenTwo · 10/06/2026 21:54

We are quite an ingredients heavy household too, but I make sausage rolls sometimes and like having those in the fridge for the 2 days they last 😂
other than that, we do always have pots of fresh olives, anchovies and deli meats and of course fruit, berries are starting to get good. We have a variety of nuts in the cupboard.
Not really anything that’s substantial but Im not really snacky, don’t really want the (mostly adult!) kids snacking on endless junk and the teen will generally make himself some cheese on toast or similar when he gets home from school.

I thought I liked those peppers but the last lot I bought - Delphi brand, I think - were spicy and not so good

Mini Melton Mowbray pork pies with cheese and onion crisps. Ritz biscuits with slices of a really strong cheddar. Dry roasted peanuts. A family sized bag of counters and a glass of full fat coke with a bit of lemon in it.

I am not one of life’s sophisticated types!

TheWeekOnTheDalymountSeat · 10/06/2026 21:57

Unearthed Spanish Pickles - low calorie & delicious, I’ve had them from Sainsburys or the 3 for £8 pots in M&S, the anchovies are special!

Bubbless31 · 10/06/2026 22:00

This is all sounding very delicious- I think my shopping may be more expensive this week! I’ve just eaten some leftover prawn crackers and cooked some gyoza from the freezer…. It felt fairly desperate!

Scampi fries. I am not sophisticated.

Shatandfattered · 10/06/2026 22:07

The skinny bars have such a wide range and I love to have them to grab if I want to be really bad and eat sweet junk it feels less bad! Tried the school cake ones yesterday, like milkybar chews xxl with sprinkles!!

I haven't had those in years, I'd almost forgotten about them. I may need to go and search for them.

Poundland usually have them.

GameOfJones · 10/06/2026 22:20

We're quite an "ingredients" household too but I always have cheese, crackers and chutney or chilli jam in and I'm obsessed with the M&S salted crisps in the red packet that are just potatoes, oil and salt.

I absolutely love a pack of these! With wine!

Crisps and wine is my favourite snack 😆

RaininSummer · 10/06/2026 22:23

Spicy Nik naks, cashew nuts, coconut macaroons

NeedWineNow · 10/06/2026 22:26

We've got a cupboard in our dining room sideboard with snacks in. Always got some crisps, mixed nuts from Aldi or Lidl (plain as I don't like salted nuts), chilli rice crackers. Skinny Bars of varying types and the Aldi/Lidl KitKat dupes if we fancy some chocolate. Apples or grapes in the fruit bowl and seafood sticks in the fridge. Just like to know that there's something there rather than having to run to the 24 hour garage.

LochLoughton · 10/06/2026 22:28

Little salty crackers, water biscuits.or the Peter's Yard Sourdough crackers
Celery sticks with peanut better in them
Leerdammer cheese slices
Piccolino or other tiny tomatoes
Cashew nuts
Chocolate tiffin cut into tiny squares or just 50-60% datk chocolate with orange rind.
Sparkling or soda water
Longley Farm hazelnut yoghurt or HD Vanilla ice'cream

SootysCaravan · 10/06/2026 22:39

Baked pitta chips and the M&S buffalo chicken dip with some chopped veggies

familyissues12345 · 10/06/2026 22:40

We’ve always got stuff in to make cheese, biscuits and chutney.

DS2 likes the tapas pots, especially the M&S ones. There’s one called something like a ploughman’s pot, has cubes of cheese, pickled onions, gherkins and other bits.

Occasionally buy babybels/cathedral city blocks, but only when on offer

Kickinthenostalgia · 10/06/2026 22:48

Grill some pepperoni, and make little tacos with them with cheese in the middle, that’s a go too for me

PrincessOfPreschool · 10/06/2026 23:19

I'm not really an ingredient only person (cupboard of crisps, Twixes, Clubs etc).

BUT
Tonight I just fancied homemade popcorn. I pop from scratch and cover in melted butter and salt (DD put some icing sugar on hers). It just hit the spot. Doesn't take long and we always have kernels in the house.

What are counters!?

Motherofvoid · Yesterday 00:16

@Shinyandnew1 I assume these?

I love the rice crackers by The Snack Organisation, particularly the sour cream or sweet chilli ones. I am also partial to some snacking pickles, kabanos and mustard for dipping.

We have recently discovered cheese and onion rolls - the kind that look like sausage rolls - after I bought some when we had some vegetarians over for a casual meal. They are SO good! Especially heated up so they are crispy.

I love pork cheese and pickle pies as well, and pickled onions, and practically anything in the crisp line - although I have recently discovered Seabrook maple bacon flavour waffle puffs which are my current favourite.

I am now hungry and I can't eat for another 3/4 hour (meds) so thank you VERY much!

Bjorkdidit · Yesterday 06:41

You can turn ingredients into posh deli nibbles fairly easily and cheaply by mixing olives, cubes of cheese, cornichons, sundried tomatoes and pickled onions. Add breadsticks, crisps or crackers.

ExitPursuedByABare · Yesterday 06:44

Love Corn is my snack of choice. I have 25g with a glass of Chardonnay at about 5pm.

Otherwise I snack on medjool dates and raw cauliflower.

I also have chocolate covered almonds in the fridge and sometimes have one after my tea.

Yes I am trying to lose weight.
