Anyone sold a car through We Buy Any Car?

Long story, but I’ve ended up with 2 cats (the old one was in the dealership for a major repair & I couldn’t do my job without one, so had to buy a new one).

Now I’ve got the old one back & of course can’t do a trade in so must sell it on.

I don’t really feel comfortable with a private sale so am considering WBAC.

Do they beat you down a lot in price from what is offered online? Mark down for every little scratch?
Or did you get close to what was offered?

Any experiences to share? Thanks

We were offered a £100 and got £100. Evans Halshaw had a thing at the time where they’d buy any car off you when you bought one and they actually gave us £100 not to give them our car 😂. They said please don’t!

i always sell privately. Some people say they don’t want the hassle of doing this, but in my experience it’s been very easy. Maybe I’ve been lucky.

I’d estimate over the past 15 years I’m probably about £20k better off from selling cars privately rather than through WBAC. So well worth the ‘hassle’ in my opinion.

@Doris86- I did try to sell privately - had it on Autotrader for a couple of weeks, but only had a couple of calls & they both went flaky on me, cancelling & not showing up.

I’ve sold one via We Buy Any Car and one by Motoroway

Motorway were awful. Knocked us down in person, just horrid.

We Buy Any Car? Offered us MORE based on the condition of the car! We were expecting to scrap the non running car and got over £4K! So easy and very professional

Glad it all worked out well, as i posted earlier, we got more than with the tyre kickers who appeared when we tried the private route.

So easy and hassle free. I hooe you found the same!

We used Motorway and they were brilliant

Offered 2k more than WBAC, easy app to send photos in and collected on time with no change in offer

Ours was on a PCP with a balloon payment left and their offer was £1500 more than the balloon payment. They pay off the finance for you and transfer the difference via app into your bank on collection
So easy!

I had a great experience with them. My old car had a number of issues, the garage quoted over 3k even though it wasn’t incredibly old- about 9 years. It had a fault which meant the door alarm would not switch off. The guy at WBAC didn’t even mention this! He had a quick look round it, checked the mileage, looked at the service history (it wasn’t full) and I only had 1 key. They offered me over double what the garage had offered for part exchange, and that price had been if I had the work done first! It was so easy and I got far more than I expected. I thought they were very fair and I really think they have changed as a company, as their reputation had really put me off in the past.

Funny, Motorway offered us £2K more than WBAC.

Guess Motorway is a lot of dealers all competing bids on there so might drive it up a bit.

Also very easy to deal with and didn’t knock anything off when they came to collect (and we live rurally and the chaps came to us to pick it up).

I loved the fact they came out to ours to inspect and collect. Saved me a long trip to our nearest city!

Abysmal tactics. Low balling then upping the offer only to knock it down again when I was helping my friend who's not computer savvy sell his range rover in vgc. In the end a traveller gave us more than WBAC. Wankers

I went with my brother with his focus years ago, they were nit picking on every mark & offered him half of the value they offered online to get you through the door.
We walked away and sold it privately

We tried WBAC recently - we were offered £1400 less than the online quote they'd given us. We suggested meeting halfway but the chap at our local branch wasn't interested and was actually really rude when we declined his offer, so we sold with Carwow who quoted a price and didn't deviate from that. They were very easy to deal with and the man who collected the car could not have been more polite and respectful. WBAC then emailed us again to say they'd made a mistake and offered us more - I had great pleasure in telling them why we hadn't gone with them.

Sold one through Motorway no problems at all. Had to send videos/photos, they offered a price that we thought was very reasonable and someone came and picked it up. No hassle!
