Anyone sold a car through We Buy Any Car?

Long story, but I’ve ended up with 2 cats (the old one was in the dealership for a major repair & I couldn’t do my job without one, so had to buy a new one).

Now I’ve got the old one back & of course can’t do a trade in so must sell it on.

I don’t really feel comfortable with a private sale so am considering WBAC.

Do they beat you down a lot in price from what is offered online? Mark down for every little scratch?
Or did you get close to what was offered?

Any experiences to share? Thanks

I sold mine through them and honestly it was so easy. Mine wasn't reliable and had issues, they valued it at £2800 and I think they knocked it down to £2400 but I got to just leave it there and never think about it again which was worth it.

ChilledProsecco · 10/06/2026 10:45

Thanks -that’s good to hear - mine is totally fine, it’s a shame to be selling it but had to take out a loan for the new one otherwise I would have kept it.

But it is 7 years old, so I’m hoping they don’t nit pick every tiny mark on it.

My elderly DM has done this twice - no problems at all. It was easy and hassle-free.

Yes - I had reservations before but it was so easy and a fair, if not generous price! Very pleased and surprised!

Olinguito · 10/06/2026 11:00

I had a really good experience with them too, selling a very old car. Rather than finding faults the salesman kept saying how impressed he was with the condidion of the car, and I felt that the price was fair. He did tell me I would probably get more in a private sale, but I didn't want the hassle. All the paperwork was completed on the spot and the money was in my account before I left. It was a much more pleasant expereince than I had expected.

theemmadilemma · 10/06/2026 11:05

Honestly I got a better price than I expected, wasn't beaten down too much. Simple and easy, usually a brief look around is all.

Would I do it again, absolutely.

ChilledProsecco · 10/06/2026 11:06

Thanks for all the replies & I’m reassured that it’s mostly good experiences that people have had.

I’ve booked an appointment for tomorrow.

Will be sorry to see it go!

Easy and decent price & experience for us too.
I heard motorway was good too but haven't tried myself.

Same as everyone else, great simple, fuss free and fair.

They do like 2 keys. And any engine lights being on will affect the price they pay versus the quote online.

Not sure they buy cats!

We sold our car via ‘We buy any car’ , and it was an easy process. We made sure the car was clean before hand. I can’t remember if there was much difference between the online quote and the final price, but nothing significant. One thing to remember is that they take the car off you straight away, so make sure you have a lift home!

Marriedatsecondsight · 10/06/2026 11:12

Another good experience here.

They offered more than the garage trade in price and a very fair amount.

I was able to bargain with the dealership and got my new car for a lot less than trading it in.

They got a lot of bad press at the beginning but weve found them very fair and a lot easier than any alternative

ChilledProsecco · 10/06/2026 11:15

@Silverbirchleaf- ha ha! Sausage fingers here!!

I have only lovely furry cat!! 🐈‍⬛

But 2 cars at the moment!!

What a great idea for a business, We Buy Any Cat. 🤣🐈

Podcastonsounds · 10/06/2026 11:19

Dc1 sold their car rather than going for part exchange as it was £200 part exchange or £500 with we buy any car (was on its last legs and got more than 2 scrap dealers had offered).
I sold mine when I had to give up driving due to ill health they were very nice (I felt very emotional and I think they realised and offered me a cup of tea). Got more than expected was about £150 less than the online quote.

scrivette · 10/06/2026 11:31

We did and were very impressed - it was far better than we had thought it would be and they were easy to deal with and got us a good price after we had been let down several times trying to sell privately (it was a specialist car). Would definitely recommend them and would use them again.

HappyAsASandboy · 10/06/2026 11:37

I have sold to WBAC. They took a quick look around the car when I took it there, found nothing wrong with it, and paid me the amount they’d quoted online. All very fast and easy.

amylou8 · 10/06/2026 11:42

My son took his first car there. It wasn't anything special, but there was nothing wrong with it either, he'd paid 2.5k from a dealership a year before. They quoted him £800. When he got there they said £150 and eventually gave him £200. I don't know why he took it, but they saw him coming clearly.

Larrythecatforpm · 10/06/2026 11:44

Bad experience with them, tried to rip us off. In the end I sold it myself and made 2k more than they offered!

Also don’t sell them your cat! 😂

comealongdobbeh · 10/06/2026 11:46

Used them a few times. You won’t get market value but that’s the price you pay for the ease and speed. Very reliable

Yeah I wondered why they’d buy cats. 🤣

I sold my car through them about 2 years ago. Went fine as far as I recall. Similar to what other PP’s say re price difference not much and taking car off you straightaway.

ChilledProsecco · 10/06/2026 11:50

I’d never sell my lovely Floof!!

But it looks like they’re giving me a better price than Motorway so I’d be happy with that- even if they knocked £100-200 off (they have offered £7.2k)

Was just a bit worried in case they knocked £500 off as that’s a very different price.

Happysandysummer · 10/06/2026 11:50

I sold one through the motorway app after a friend recommended. Very impressed

Is this ethical?! 🤣

My friend half wants to sell her two Tonkinese (demanding, steal food, miaow lots) but her daughter would kill her! My cat isn’t for sale bless her. Easiest of all my cats.
