How much do you pay for your TV/Internet?

Virgin want £220 per month from us now. We do have some Sky channels (which they gave at a discount last time we threatened to leave over their prices). So we could lose those. But this is for broadband (not superfast) and the TV. Isn't that completely ludicrous? No mobiles.

That's a ridiculous amount, its £2,600 a year!

I pay £24.99 a month for full fibre at a good enough speed to do whatever I need.

Also pay for a TV licence just under £15 a month.

Assuming you are not stuck in a contract you should definately look elsewhere.

Oh yikes! Anyone else?

Yes it is ludicrous.

I get 1gb broadband and have a range extending thing and it's £24 a month. They try and charge almost 3 times the amount and i always cancel the contract exactly 1 month before it expires and then wait for them to slowly bring the price down over the last month until it's something im happy with.

I could get landline at extra £2pm but it's worthless these days, so unnecessary.

Disney I only get when free, Sky movies always do us a long term thing like £3.99pm for 9 months through Nowtv, and then we get Prime when free or occasionally pay a month for it say at Xmas when we have lots of deliveries.

You really do need to shop around, look on a few price comparison sites and get a big bundle thing.

I pay £29 a month with Vodaphone for broadband. I do also pay extra for Netflix and Prime.

Bjorkdidit · 10/06/2026 10:46

We have full fibre broadband for about £25 pm and then rotate around the various streaming platforms. Currently on 1 year half price Black Friday deals for Now TV entertainment and movies for £9 a month and either Disney or Paramount, can't remember which one, but it was just under £40 for the year. We don't have a TV licence because we don't watch live TV.

So works out under £40 pm. I regret taking the contracts because TBH we hardly watch it and I have a list of stuff I want to watch on Netflix, but won't allow myself to get them because I'm already paying for a load of stuff we don't really watch.

Look on Moneysaving Expert for offers and save yourself a load of money by changing regularly.

You could ask Virgin for a discount to stay, but it would have to be a good one to make it anywhere near a sensible price.

@LindorDoubleChoc that seems excessive😱

Trawl through this site, you'll certainly find a more affordable option.📺

Virgin media - £110 a month, that’s for internet and TV in 3 rooms, all the sports and movie channels, Netflix included too, and I think TNT Sports.

tiramisugelato · 10/06/2026 10:59

£34.99 for EE broadband full fibre. We also pay for Prime, NowTV/HBO and Disney+ on top.

Jk987 · 10/06/2026 11:07

Woah that sounds extortionate! We pay around £80 including some key channels like Sky Sports and Movies.

dailyconniptions · 10/06/2026 11:33

£21 for broadband and £6 for Netflix per month. No TV licence.

Pixiedust1234 · 10/06/2026 21:41

Crikey OP!

Sky broadband/phone line is £18 a month and Sky TV with added channels such as Sky Atlantic is £21 a month but I get free Netflix and Disney+ with it (and other stuff I'm not interested in). This is fixed for two years.

I don't have any sports or kids channels though and that's where they seem to ramp up the charges.

Edit - I also pay TV licence.

Dbank · 10/06/2026 21:51

Community Fibre £34.30 1Gbit
Freesat £0

lotsofadminrubbish · 10/06/2026 22:01

£110 for 3 boxes and internet / tv (no films etc) for Virgin. I have just moved to sky at a fraction of virgins bill speed is SO much better.

Nodirectionhome · 10/06/2026 22:21

I pay £29.99 for broadband (Plusnet). I watch Freeview and I pay for Netflix (£6 per month). I have a Kindle Firestick so get Prime video too. (Have Amazon Prime subscription at £95 per year). I have a half price TV licence (£90) as I am severely sight impaired. Added up it costs £51.41 per month, but no Sky, Disney etc, which I wouldn't watch anyhow.

Mindia · 10/06/2026 22:34

£34.99 broadband, £70 Sky Q, Whatever Prime is +£2.99 ad skip, I think £60 annually ITVx for no ads, Apple TV about £90 annually, Netflix, HBO, Disney, Paramount are in with Sky but I pay on top for better picture and no ads so about another £20 odd a month probably, TV licence about £180 a year. So quite a lot and I hate adverts

ChaliceinWonderland · 10/06/2026 22:36

25£ a month for Internet and phone. ItsBT social tariff for UC claimants.

BarbarianBabs · 10/06/2026 22:39

£35 per month with community fibre for internet and landline and then we just have a tv licence, no other tv packages
