Anyone else see the very long interview with Paul Gascoigne on GMB earlier this morning with Ed and Susannah fawning over him?

This is the man who admitted in 1994 beating his wife for two years.

In 2019 he was charged with sexual assault and of course all his public destructive behaviour due to alcoholism.

Can’t believe he has been given a public platform to sell his book all because he once played football.

GMB - kind of their thing - they give plenty of air time to other awful men like Nigel and Tommy 10 names

He is an alcoholic and he has done many atrocious things because of his addiction. Apart from the domestic violence I can never forget his public support for Rauol Moat.

I don't understand the public attitude to Gascoigne at all. Yes he was a very talented footballer. The press built him up to enjoy shooting him down, as they have done with many others. The public fascination has been so detrimental to Gascoigne himself - people wanting , and even encouraging him, to lapse from sobriety.

I just wish he woukd sink into obscurity. Better for everybody, himself included

Gazza bought my school a mini bus and paid for its upkeep and petrol. It had such a ripple effect on a generation of children from a deprived area, many of whom had never been across the Tyne despite us being able to see it from the street the school was on.
