I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole

I have managed to fall down the rabbit hole of arguing with strangers on the internet. Mainly anti vaxxers and pro lifers. I can’t help it they just enrage me to a point of where I can’t not say anything. Then I end up in massive arguments. Anyone else do this?? I think I’m going to come off social media for a bit as it’s taken over my whole algorithm as well. I just wondered if I was the only one!

I do a bit of this! It’s a waste of life isn’t it. I have downloaded the Be Present app which is helping restrict my use of certain apps.

As much as I admire your motivations, there's really no point, and at the end of the day all you're doing is increasing engagement and feeding the trolls. I've uninstalled the apps for most socials from my phone, highly recommend.

You aren’t going to change their minds and they aren’t going to change yours so why bother?

I’ve improved this week. I’m sorry if I’m being offensive but it’s Americans that enrage me. Or American men. I truly don’t understand why women aren’t rising up and fighting for their rights in the streets. Pro life American men are abhorrent. Don’t even get me started on anti vaxxers. But I have deleted my insta & have cut down my Facebook usage. Baby steps. Thanks all.

Have you heard of Socratic questioning? Apparently if you directly challenge someone it makes their views stronger, but if you come from a place of curiosity and gently question their beliefs it makes them start to question them too. Helps lower their defences. Tricksy 😉

Why bother? You’re just wasting your time and life worrying about them - do stuff for you not a bunch of twats you won’t ever meet. Perhaps you could make a list of stuff you want to do - then instead of looking at wherever you see their posts you work your way through the list. I had a phase of cleaning and tidying one cupboard/drawer a night- it was very satisfying.

Step away from these arseholes. I joined a yoga class and their WhatsApp group. The dickhead yoga guru used to share articles about 'alternative' cancer treatment and how meditation is better than surgery and chemo. Absolute fucking prick 🤬
