Am I missing any useful kitchen appliances, or do we have enough?

Chatting at work about heating plates turned to what appliances we have in the kitchen and I realised I barely have any. I have the following:

Cooker
Washing machine
Food mixer
Stove top kettle
Gas hob
Handheld blender

People thought this was odd, what am I missing out on? We manage fine as we are.

Range cooker, fridge freezer, additional fridge, dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker, pancake maker, Ninja airfryer, Ninja blender, Nutribullet, washing machine, tumble dryer, hand blender, hand whisk, Velvetiser, coffee machine, Bialetti stove top, toastie machine, toaster, kettle.

I use all of these, some a lot more than others. I’d really miss having the dishwasher, airfryer, toaster, microwave and tumble dryer. Also the coffee machine and Nutribullet. Obvs the kettle, cooker and washing machine.

I like my dishwasher, bean grinder, and bread maker.
We have other appliances you haven't listed that I could live without but DH likes (microwave, toaster, air fryer, George foreman, stand mixer, rice cooker).
We keep most of them in the pantry and bring them out to the kitchen when using them.

I have way too much but the things used every day, sometimes multiple times are the
Bean to cup coffee
Nutribullet for smoothies, spice mixes, parmesan
Air fryer for vegetarian food to avoid cross contamination
Microwave for veg and scrambled egg.

I also use the pressure cooker about once a week to cook beans and pulses and poach chicken, to freeze for lunches etc

I’d rather give up my husband than my dishwasher, bloody love it (especially since said husband likes a clean cup for every drink!)

Toaster, microwave, air fryer, coffee machine, all used and useful.

Surely most people use a clean cup for every drink? I can't imagine using the same one😬

Gas hob, electric oven, fridge freezer, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble drier, microwave, airfryer, food processor, toaster, kettle, panini toaster.

I have gas cooker
washing machine
fridge freezer
toaster
electric kettle
handheld blender
small chopper for eg nuts and biscuits (crumbs)

The one thing I’d like some day is a toastie machine.

Mumski45 · 09/06/2026 09:17

Ones we use all the time
Airfryer
Hob
Oven
quooker
mixer/blender/liquidiser/food processor
Toaster
Soup maker
microwave
fridge
freezer
washing machine
dehumidifyer (used instead of dryer)

Ones we don’t use/use very rarely
ice cream maker
sandwich toaster
heated platter
dryer
coffee maker

ones I got rid of as never used
bread maker
slow cooker
rice cooker

cucumber4745 · 09/06/2026 09:32

you probably don’t need anything else. That said I am obsessed:

two fridge freezers
washing machine
dryer
dishwasher
microwave
airfryer
oven
hob
instant pot multicooker
grill
waffle maker
deep toast maker
kettle
toaster
espresso machine
milk frother
water machine
choppers, mixers etc - now I want a new food processor and standing mixer but I do cook and bake everything

I have lots that I never use, the biggest one I would get in your shoes is the dishwasher. It keeps the kitchen much tidier - say if you use a cup and a plate for breakfast, not enough do to the washing up, it just sits on the side - with the dishwasher it goes straight away.

This is the big one that everyone thinks they don't need until they have one.
