Friend forgetting lunch

Hi this is pretty minor but it’s bugging me- messaging back and forth with a friend and we arranged to meet today- I messaged yesterday asking if we are still on and no response so the day has now been and gone! I don’t have the mental energy to keep checking and reminding another adult, I have GCSE age kids and a husband etc etc- I can’t prop up other people too but now feel deflated- she’s notoriously scatty but manages to go to work and catch flights 😊

Yes she had blue ticked

I guess she could have forgotten to reply, but if she’s turned up you’d know about it by now. Therefore I reckon that unfortunately she didn’t want to meet up for some reason and was too rude to say so

She wouldn’t have knew where to turn up to! I think I’m going to sit on it for a bit, thanks for all your replies x

She has no respect for you, and values her time more than yours.

SheilaFentiman · 08/06/2026 19:06

This is a bit crap but I would wait and see if you get an explanation

Gwenhwyfar · 08/06/2026 19:07

Very rude. She didn't forget because you reminded her.

Because I’m not particularly attached to it. It lives in my bag and I use my laptop/tablet for most things. I would hear it ring but I wouldn’t check for messages every day.

You “would” hear it ring and you “wouldn’t” check for messages.

So no concerns about leaving people hanging?

I'm not particularly attached, but still check messages etc

CoffeeAndCats3 · 09/06/2026 00:19

Barring some disaster/illness this is exceptionally rude and disrespectful. The only other thing I can think is she replied but forgot to send it?

I wouldn't bother again and wait for her to contact me.

Yes she had blue ticked

I don't think that means much. My friend keft her phone here yesterday. Before I realised I'd sent her a WhatsApp Last night it was showing 2 blue ticks, despite that being impossible.
