Mid cycle bleeding

Not sure that this is the right place to get reassurance but the internet is terrifying so here goes...

I have had some mid-cycle bleeding twice now. First time I was mildly concerned so just thought that I'd see if it happened again. And now a month later it has. I had a normal period in between.

I am 33, otherwise fine, and up to date with smears. I have a GP appt booked, but when I rang to do so this morning they offered me one in 10 days which is the day I am due to get my period. So I thought it might be best to put it back, so it's now in two and a half weeks. Would quite like not to be secretly worried for the next two and a half weeks! Any thoughts?

Are you on the pill?

Did you explain to receptionist you'll be on period? They may be able to bring appt forward instead. Any chance you have a STD? Might be worth going to a drop in clinic sooner just to get those results so can rule that out.

Nope. I am not.

I didn't say exactly that but I did ask if there was any chance of an earlier one and she said that they were completely choc-a-block. I didn't want to push it for the sake of a few days although obviously it would be better for me if I did. Maybe I should ring back...

STI very unlikely I would say. I haven't been completely celibate but I would be amazed if it was that.

Anyone following this and interested to know, I had my GP appt yesterday. Explained that I had had mid cycle bleeding for two months in a row, with normal periods before, during and after. I am now at day 9 of my cycle and there has been no bleeding this month post-period but the last two months it's been around ovulation time so this month doesn't prove anything yet.

GP was uncertain as there were no other things going on that suggested anything. She asked the same STI and pill questions, as well as about bleeding after sex (nope, although I have only had sex once in the last couple of months since this started). No changes in anything else I could mention either. So now I have a gynae referral assuming it happens again (and my choice if it doesn't). All very strange.

Most likely to be due to ovulation.

I would post this under a Health topic.
