Why am I grieving a university boyfriend after a vivid dream?

I had a vivid dream last night. About my uni boyfriend. We were together 3 ish years. I'm now in my 50s. I have spent all day missing him and grieving. Wtf is wrong with me? I feel like I'm devastated, as if we've just split up. Seriously, wtf?

It happens. I had a dream about my ex husband the other day and felt sad when I woke up. But it is what it is. The brain is a funny thing and so is sleep. There's nothing wrong with you!

And we divorced 16 years ago, and I've been living with DP for 10, so, same kind of thing. You have no control over dreams!

It's so bizarre. I was so in love with him, and it was my decision to split up. Yet here I am 30 fecking years later, devastated as if we've just split up. Wtf

Odd, isn't it. But tomorrow it will be gone.

@SoreenImBeggingOfYouPleaseDontTakeMyMan has your life been good since you split up with your uni BF or panned out the way you wanted? Dreams are strange things, kind of a mixture of what we’ve been doing or thinking about during the day. Were you thinking about him at all recently or has he not crossed your mind in years? Do you know where or what he’s up to these days?

This exactly happened me a few months ago. Woke up sad about it and felt guilty (as I am married to man of my dreams and never think of uni bf). I looked him up on Facebook for a nosey and seeing his current photo made me snap out of the sudden sadness, I don't know this man who he has grown into.

I really don't think it means anything but it is weird when it happens.

What did you have in that relationship that’s missing from life now that will be what you’re yearning for
