My washing machine has broken, new one comes on Tuesday but until then I need to hand wash clothes for the kids/school uniform etc

how on earth do I dry it? Unfortunately I am very unorganised so have no clean towels even to try and wring them out with

I do have a dryer but surely I can't put them in that soaking wet?

no car so can't go to a laundrette

You can wring larger items really well if you have someone (a child will do) to help you. Fold the item up widthways. They take one end and you take the other then you both twist in opposite directions. When the item is really taut you can squeeze it down its length.

I wrung them out the best I could, hung them on an airer over the bath for a bit to drip off and then used the dryer, it took ages and ages to dry but the dryer survived fortunately.
and borrowed spare pants for the kids from their dads house because I didn't fancy handwashing dirty pants!
