Silly Games by Janet Kay. It was the first single I ever bought and it always takes me right back.

Hotafternoon · 05/06/2026 12:22

Sex Machine by James Brown, 70s disco nights with my three oldest friends, I realise now just how much fun we had and how good the music was at that time.

Happy days 😀

Walkingnice · 05/06/2026 12:23

I've not heard the original but Divine Comedy do a good version of this

I'm mostly listening to what I listened to as a teenager - Belle and Sebastian, Shed Seven, etc

Techno Techno Techno

PauliesWalnuts · 05/06/2026 12:37

I was in the hairdressers last week and Out of Touch by Hall & Oates came on and I still knew every word.

Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald takes me back to sweaty Thursday nights at the Hacienda every time.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/06/2026 12:37

Ohhh No No No
I managed a couple of minutes of the Divine Comedy cover
Listen to the original.
Billy MacKenzie has such good vocal range ( tragically died by his own hand . Sad )

The Divine Comedy is frankly "poundshop" in comparison. Give your ears a treat and watch The Associates Wink

TheSandgroper · 05/06/2026 13:31

An awful lot of ABBA. I distressed dd by singing all the songs in Movie 1 and Movie 2.

All INXS.

Sawdoctors - I Useta Love Her. Almost anything from If This is Rock And Roll, I Want My Old Job Back.

SerendipityCat · 05/06/2026 13:54

Depends on how you define yoof, but if I go back to when I was 15/16 there was some awful dross - the charts were full of Donny Osmond, the Bay City Rollers, David Cassidy, Gary Glitter...
Nah, not for me, I was far too sophisticated, wasn't I? 😬 I liked Bowie, Roxy Music, 10cc, Wings, Alice Cooper - mainly, in retrospect, to be "different" and earn a few pathetic shreds of street cred at my God-awful school. Anyway, the songs which really take me back are -

"Seven Seas of Rhye" by Queen
"This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both of Us" - Sparks
"The Man Who Sold the World" - Lulu's version

And probably my favourite Bowie record of all time, unjustly overlooked -

"Drive-In Saturday"

IntelligentInputDarling · 05/06/2026 17:27
